Just spent the entire day getting (helping) people in and out of many different types of kayaks - from the family friendly sit-on-top kayaks to the very high end sit-inside kayaks. There was a strong showing of other types of water platforms like; surf skis,stand-up paddle boards, and OC 1's (Outrigger Canoes) that raced around the lagoon to rise money for many different charities. I'm exhausted but feel really good about getting "people out there"  :smt002 Wish I had my camera but I left it at home :smt013

I especially want to thank the NCKA volunteers that showed up at the event today: Frank Fishing (represented at the NCKA booth), Pat R, Guitarzan, Goutless Angler and Sandman for doing various jobs  = you guys ROCK  :headbang:

Tomorrow (Sunday) Adam / Fish Hunter will be representing at the NCKA booth - Thank you Adam for volunteering :smt008

This event was so well received by the outdoor community that Aquan will be doing this event EVERY YEAR :smt038 If you can't make it this year, MAKE it next year and bring the entire family!

Highlights:
Demo over 50+ styles of kayaks and paddle boards
People Paddle for the Planet- Paddle a Boat. Save the Planet.
Reel Paddling Film Festival
Fly Fishing and Kayak Fishing Demo
Kayak Polo Demo
Foster City Fire Dept. Water Rescue Team
Kids Art Activities
Clinics
Exhibits
Samples
And soo much more!

This was quit the event and I would like to personally thank Vince from Aquan for  putting this together. We were well represented by NCKA and the guys were very helpful to the large crowd of folks that showed up to paddle and visit all the booths of diverse exhibitors attending.

I was first assigned as a safety kayak however; Joel needed someone in the booth to represent NCKA so I got the reassignment which was allot of fun for me personally. Talking to all those folks with interest to join our ranks was a total privilege and honor, thanksBill and Joel.Quit a few of our guest were folks who visit our site but haven't been active in our gatherings so I  talked to them about their yaks and how to use our site where they could get the information needed to set up their yaks. from all our friendly ranks of enrolled Kayakers (Websters definition of Kayak,"Hunting Boat").
My emphasis was on safety, community, and then fishing. Allot of interest on self rescue which seemed to always be part of the conversation with the display of our equipment and how we use them (Joel's kayak was on display with my PFD sitting on the front table ).
P1010100
The lagoon there in Foster City is really a nice area and when I first got there this is the view I had all day with plenty of traffic and interest.
P1010090
We had a front row sit for the Kayak race and cheered them on when they passed our booth.
P1010091
P1010092
P1010093
Kind of reminded me of alot of the fellows trying to get out to the fishing grounds :smt005. Some of these racers almost ran over eachother trying to get a better position on the field, like when I have fished with JTF,ChuckE Freddie and the like on the ocean :smt005
Our crew was well represented as Joel mentioned previously in his post.
P1010094 and I am sure they will be again today by Adam and others attending today.
When I did get out here is what it looked like out on the display row:
P1010095
Joel helping to launch newbies:
P1010096
P1010097
Get any numbers oops sales Joel? :smt044
High end yaks that didn't have rod holders?
P1010098
Local hero's ready if needed!
P1010099
Why I was put so close to them was that a subtle message or what? :smt004
Didn't have allot of opportunity to mingle with all the traffic at our booth but did meet allot of great displayers from other organization and was totally impressed but the mix of exhibitors from different organizations through out the bay.
Fun day and would totally suggest that if you get the chance to represent NCKA that we should all give it a try. Gotta Love this Sport, Frankfishing

First the girl, ten the boy, now mom. I am last man standing since Friday night. Really drives home what fathers day is all about  :smt044

Sorry guys, I will make it up to you, I promise!

Sorry I did not take any photos Joel worked me like a dog :smt044, not really I had a great time helping people in and out of the kayaks and answering question about kayaking and I even got to give Frank a break from the NCKA booth for a short time :smt003. I had a lot of fun and will be volunteering next year if they will have me back :smt006.

Went to the paddlefest with Diana to test a board and took a few shoots of the Men of NCKA.

Great action shot of Adam and Nate hard at work :smt003
P1010112
Sharing information with others on kayak fishing w/ Adams yak.
P1010110
Yours truly giving it a ride. Felt more like a shaking dog on the nose of a yak. Would diffently take more practice.

About this time I was thinking,"What the hell are you thinking?"

The Aquan Sports paddle event was not just about "selling kayaks"....it was about commmunity and supporting those in need. The charity events organized by People Paddle definitely put out "da good vibe"  :hippy2: When was the last time you paddled a kayak and made a complete stranger smile...or even overcome their fear of water????  :smt045 :smt058
