mike from the outdoor pro shop in oakland nailed a 9lb cab (verified by dfg data collector, the ever friendly Kirk)just outside the jaws. He said the fish moved him so much that when he got home, all alone he placed it in the middle of the kitchen table and "communed" with it for several min. before processing...
I'm not sure if he did this on his paddle pontoon or tiny RIB...i guess whichever he had strapped to the roof when i called him to tell him about the anchovy mayhem in the harbour. he also added a few rockies to the count which he gifted to kirk for dinner.
some passers by asked Kirk what was up with the tonnes of dead chovies in the water and what was eating them besides the birds, so he lent down on the floating dock at the ramp, stuck his arm in the water, and pulled out a nice size leopard shark by the tail. apparently there were some screams and possibly some of the kids around may have had a hard time with their first fishing experience. kirk played it off like he was the croc hunter and this was no biggie. he he..BTW the conditions were flat calm till mid afternoon..no wind played a part in the cho die off.

9 pound cabs make cool croaking sounds.  I hope he searched the stomach contents - there are some treasures in there!   :smt001

usagi and z
As i said...this catch was verified by my friend the DFG biology data collector, and fellow NCKA member, kirk. His very livelyhood, and the future of our fisheries rely on him making accurate reports. I saw a pic yesterday. If you dont believe me or kirk, thats one thing..call me a liar to my face...saying my post is useless, thats plain rude..

Um...take a chill pill my friend.  You seem a little bit touchy.  No one was calling you a liar, or in any way questioning the accuracy of your report.  Did you not notice the grinning emoticons holding onto those signs?  That post was merely a pathetic plea on my part for pictures of a fish I wish I'd caught, so I could drool a little bit.  I know Z, and I'm positive his response is nothing more than the same.  We're just jealous, and if you'd frequented the forum a bit longer you would have realized that we're actually nice guys who love fish porn.  :smt002  So, friends now?

It's true, Sharky - all in jest all around.  As a group, we're sorry to offend, my friend.  These guys are just clowning on something that I'm actually on that side of most of the time as I always want good pics and gently berate those that don't.   :smt003  They might even have "gone Abking" on you spontaneously as a symptom of some kind of internet fish porn type of virus...   :smt002  Sorry your post got a little jacked.   :smt001

It's all good! After all how would you feel if you are staring at a computer screen instead of paddling into great fishing! It's hard to live vicariously through another without a good image to stare at. Otherwise all the other kinds of internet porn wouldn't be so popular. :smt044 :smt005

Abking does that make us jack@@fs or jackasses....

Oh! I forgot to add a pic...
