Good morning to all,

I would like to know if there is a kayak store that gears more toward fishing
out there. It seem most store who sells kayak are limited to my fishing needs.
I find myself buying certain things on line and it is not what I expect. I would
like to finally see first hand things I need before buying. I live in Vallejo. Still
trying to finish pimping my new ride. Hobie mirage outback.

Thanks
Jed

There is not one in the Bay Are that I am aware of. About the closest you can get is Mel Cottons, they have the fishing gear, they have the kayaks but lack the "fishing stuff for kayaks" like rod holders etc..

Outback, our fine sponsors, have kayaks and fishing stuff for kayaks but no fishing tackle.

Can't forget our other fine sponsors down in SoCal, the good people at Hook 1. I just ordered some stuff from them and as usual their customer service was top notch! Thanks again Karen. :thumleft:

Hi Yaker:

Fisherman's  Warehouse (FW) in Sac is another  place that has
Yaks and a good supply of Fishing needs.
Eric  has a tag along Contest where you could win a P15 by going fishing with Him.
FW  has lots of Gear but, I still shop on-line becasuse they don't have "Buzz Bombs".
Don't forget to attend one of Allen T. Reel tuneup Class at FW.

Thanks Bill,Zeelander,and mendohead for responding.
Actually next weekend,I will be driving down south to
go on a cruise to Mexico for a week. Unfortunately no
fishing involved do to five families are also going. On my
way back home if there is anyroom left in may van, maybe
somebody can suggest any kayak store with lots of fishing
gears to choose from. Greatly appreciate it. I will be around
San Diego area and Las Vegas after.

Thanks in advance
Jed

Note: Eric is not the manager of the Sacramento store.  He manages the Fresno store.

And there is a Fisherman's Wharehouse in San Jose as well.  Not at all close to Vallejo, but closer than Sac. or Fresno.

Tote, you are correct.  I left out "not."  I'll correct that.

The question is: is Jed looking for a kayak or kayak fishing equipment or fishing gear? If he's looking for all three under the same roof, I don't think he'll ever be 100 percent satisfied. SJ Fisherman's Warehouse has no kayaks, some kayak gear, but tons of fishing gear. Mel Cottons has kayaks, considerably more kayak gear, but not as much fishing gear (compared to Fishermans Warehouse). The wildcard here is what specifically Jed is looking for.

Thanks for the Fisherman's Warehouse mention guys.
Although Fresno is a long drive, you can also have Glen transfer some of my product to his store in San Jose.
Even though I am the only store stocking yak gear i could still transfer or you could go to our web site (fishermanswarehouse.com)and also order it there.
If you need assistance or have any questions please call me:

Hey fellas,

Sorry for throwing a curve ball on you guys. I should have been more specific
on what I was looking for. Basically, what I needed was a good quality rod holder
I can mount on my kayak preferably baitcast setup. Second, I need a 3  pounds
anchor the one that collapses or fold. Lastly, would be a drift shoot. Can someone
recommend the proper wait of an anchor I should use for the hobie outback and also
the proper size drift shoot? sorry again for the confusion.

Thanks so much
Jed

You don't need a fishing specific store or a kayaking specific store... any decent marine store carries anchors or all sizes, drift chutes, and rod holders.  Try West Marine... you may need to get a kayak-sized drift chute online... try Hook-1.

Thanks Backcountry, I will be heading to west marine in Albany. I was told there was a store
in that area. I better check mapquest first before going after work.

Hey guys, Zack at Mel Cotton's here. What kind of stuff would you like to see us carry that would make us fit this profile?

Jedmo, Outdoor Pro Shop in ROhnert Park and Oakland have the anchor you are looking for. I was in the OPS in Oakland last week ( I'm still waiting for my kayak to be delivered) and I was amazed at all the stuff they have for kayak anglers.

I live in Fairfield, I haven't checked out that big tackle shop in Vacaville along the freeway yet.
