Hi all, Just joined and wanted to say hello and that you guys have a killer board!
I live in the SF area.  My wife and I are avid fishers and are getting the kayak bug, we are planning on purchasing new yaks soon after we demo a few and decide what we really like.
y favorite fishing is generally surf stripers and rockfish all of which will be accessible by a kayak for us.
We are looking forward to getting started and enjoy this fine board you have!

Hope to be able to contribute one day.  :smt002

Ain't that the truth especially since I am buying two of everything, but honestly, with the rising fuel costs and such, since there are so many launch places in my area, I think I may save money after a while by not paying for charters and not driving as far.......at least I can hope...right?  :smt002

Purchasing a kayak or two in your case is just the beginning, kinda like buying  a Harley........you get the basic starter kit and proceed to customize it.  Welcome

Welcome!

I used the "save money" idea with my wife saying that it will save me from all the trip expenses and party boat prices etc.

$1500 later she is starting to scratch her head a little. That will pay for a lot of fishing trips lol.

But she is cool with it, as long as I start bringing home some dinner that is...

I hav elost over 25 lbs this spring since getting my yak and I feel great. The bonus is the great friends you will meet here and of course the fight from the deck of a yak

Welcome, hope to hear from you soon.

Stoggie

boy i know that, gotta get a roof rack for the Jeep Wrangler ($700.00), then I have already looked at fish finders, battery boxes, upgraded seats, GPS mount (or I may just get the fish finder/GPS combo) rod holders, etc, etc, etc.
thank god my wife is just as much as a fishing freak as i am, she and I build our own custom lures for surf fishing (she is the one that taught me how to use a lathe) and she is also the one waking me up at 0400 saying "get up!  were gonna miss the tide".
Heck, the kayak thing was half her idea to begin with......man, I am one lucky dude!  :smt003

Thanks for the warm welcome!  Hope to learn more and be able to contribute soon!

WTTM Tom!!!!

And otobepelagic is so right. The yaks will be a drop in the bucket compared to the total bucks you'll be spending... And I certainly know that feeling, I have 2 yaks and the Harley!!! My Roadking wasn't cheap, but by the time I chromed everything, added the stage 2 kit, the xtra high windshield, and all the cloths and crap, I just spent twice the cost of the bike..... :smt005

Welcome to the madness Tom, you and your wife are goin to have a blast catchin fish on a yak. I have caught more on a yak than I ever did on a power boat.  Its pretty cool out fishing those guys in they're fancy boats and hearing what they have to say about it, always makes me laugh.  Hope to see ya out there.

Your cost per trip goes down my problem is I can't get enough and I keep making more and more trips. :smt002
