South Bay 'Buts?

Does anyone kayak fish the south bay, like the Dumbarton Bridge or points even further south, like Alviso?  Or is it just too muddy?  Since that's the nearest saltwater I was wondering if anyone's tried it.

I'm kind of doubtful on 'but action that far down the South Bay.  I've fished it before with no luck on 'buts.  nor have heard of any 'buts being taken.  I've only been sharking in the area, though, and haven't targeted 'buts exclusively.

I did a paddle out of Alviso for Sturgeon. I think it is a great spot for them but a VERY long paddle and tough, muddy launches. Never heard of 'buts down there.

I had heard rumors that sturgeon sometimes head up those little tidal channels that abound in the area, so I wondered if other fish might, too.

Just trying to find other fishable spots that are close, yet without too much traffic.

I have launched out of the old Palo Alto yacht harbor. All the way in the back is a dock for the windsurfers. Its a mellow paddle but I have targeted is leopard sharks. Each time I go I have the place to myself....nice and mellow. Not sure if one could get lucky in the RWC harbor for 'buts? Seems like a long paddle otherwise

Launched there quit a few times but not for Hali's. Chased sturgeon and have seen them there but luck for me Don or Duane in a dozen visits or so. You really need to read the tides correctly there and make sure you give yourself time for landing or your going to face some major mud feast.
I would imagain that the water there is a bit to muddy for hali's but an easy launch right under the bridge form the Don Edwards reserve side. Frank

Well according to some stuff I found online it seems baby buts may hang out in those areas, but head for deeper water after their first birthday. 

Thanks for the replies...  the Dunbarton looks like a nice paddle for a change of scenery, if nothing else.

How are weather conditions out there? also can you pump ghost shrimp there too?? I drive past there never fished there..........
