I hope I got the right PJ moniker.

Me and Ken (SC X Factor) carpooled down to find PJ waiting and tapping his foot (JK!).

we launched to some insane surf about knee high. gosh scott, it's really not that hard!  :smt044

then we paddled through vicious fog (to make it worse, it was about 400 yards over our heads, but completely clear below that).

the wind was rough too at about 1 to 6 knots.

finally the fishing was pretty tough, only getting big vermillions on our first 2 or 3 drops, then having to skip a few before getting the next 4 or 5 because of those pesky blues and olives halting our lures before they could get to the bottom,  :smt013.

oh yes, the trip back was brutal with the wind at our backs!  :smt012

finally the landing was incredibly dangerous with some of the bigger sets approaching thigh high on me and pj, but maybe only ankle high on sc x factor (either he is really tall or we are not so tall, you can decide).

however, we all made it in, whew!  pj, thanks for waiting for us!.

I know, abking wants pics. well our electronics selection was somewhat spotty...

PJ carried a cam and GPS, but no sonar.

I carried a GPS and sonar but no cam (I did bring it to the beach house at least. it's getting close at times!).

sc x factor had a GPS, but no fish finder or cam!

abking, you know what vermillions look like right? okay then. maybe PJ will post some pics of the brutal conditions we endured today who knows?

I'm picturing vermillions...  Sorry, John, it's just not the same as actually seeing parts of your adventure.  I'd rather see a pic of the parking lot, fish blood in your footwell, the smile of a jacked NCKA brother after surviving the ocean again...  Maybe you should start doing sketches!   :smt002

Sounds like a great time and yet another high quality NCKA hookup, Guys.  Great job.   :smt001

John -

Nice report. Glad the conditions were OK. Had my car ready to go to Big Sur  but came down with food poisoning Friday night.  :puke: Spent yesterday in the bathroom but back in the saddle today.  :smt003

J & Ken (Xfactor), awesome fun time again.  J's posting was hillarious, nice to hook up w/ you guys.  Can't really add too much to that other than the swell was/is way down.  Nice paddle out & back.  I think it was cause Scott, DP & Etienne weren't there that the launching & landing was like a backyard pool!  Sorry you're doubled over Scott.  Fishing was HOT but the big Lings were somewhere else.

Nice to check out John's tricked out Scupper, it's everything I could imagine you could want on a Scupper. :smt001  It is a fast boat, not super stable, but fast.

I had a 5-10 minute period where I COULD NOT make it to the bottom w/ a 4 oz. head on a 5.5" swimbait.  Everytime I dropped it down I had a 16"+ Verm or Brown.  Insane!!!  I personally probably caught 25+ fish w/ 15 of those being keepers.

Super fun day, we were all checked again by the ranger.  It's kind of funny when the person checking you asks you what kind of fish you have?  Maybe we could all pitch in & get him a book (seriously not trying to insult him).  I'm glad they check for the sake of the fishery, otherwise who knows what you'd see going on.

On the way home I saw guys out @ some places between the Cap Du Nord & the Cap Du Sur.

Awesome, awesome day again.

You guys picked a good day for LK and got J out of his comfort zone in SC.  Very nice and we do appreciate the prose even with limited photos.  After Scott called in Sick and a saw how small the waves were I decied not to try and catch up with you guys and tried a new launch (for me at least) at Cypress Pt.  Remember, I kept my limit last time and released a salmon and I only swam while helping to retrieve equipment  :smt002 .  Plus I was the one in position for the prime photo op.  :smt044  My day was not quite as productive as yours but equal in ways the excitement factor on the launch was close  :smt005 .  I did take a limit of lings.  I guess I will start my report now that the photos are downloaded.

Wow the day started off epic. I got up on time but did not account for the time to load and drive over to meet J. For those of you absent minded people like me probably best to turn the phone on so as not to freak out those you are going to meet. Pj was actually tapping on the top of his car when we got there a little late, my bad. It was nice to launch and land upright this time. Here are a couple pix of the same table. Largest verm 6.0 even. This time it is facing a different direction (notice the lemon trees in the background my wife just pruned). Hope to find more takers on the next trip, just 3 NORCAL.

Awesome report guys! Wish I could've been there.
I think Ken has finally found his patented fish pose (stacks of huge reds+coppers on the cutting board!).
