Read some posts somewhere of attaching a Plano box with bungies. Not a very secure way of doing things.
Then I read where there was not enough room for a brass clip on one of the eyelets if you chose to use one with your Plano box.
This has been my solution to both of those problems.
I have a spring clip attached to both sides of my Plano box. Where they shoud attach to the kayak there was not enough room. Especially since I use the same eyelets to attach my seat.
I put a small stainless steel anchor shackle on each eyelet. This way there is anough room for my seat and the Plano box to attach.

What gear do you all keep in your plano boxes?
I have an Orange one at home, I used on my 12' alum. boat, it contains TP (Important item) spark plug wrench, spare, new spark plugs, 150# lifting magnet & 100' small dia' rope, small 12vdc hand held spot light, straight slot screwdriver and wire brush (For spark plugs) maybe a few other small items.
I'm thinking about dumping its contents and maybe using it on the OB.  However, while being on the water,(fresh water lake) I haven't really seen a need for it just yet, maybe other than an place to mount a tri-rod holder fixture?
I carry a short throw rope in my seats pack, along with fish stringer, I guess I could carry them in the new box. I have a small can-air horn it also could go in the box. First aid? lunch? snacks?
What are some of the items that you pack in these boxes?

My rods and net ride in a tri-rod holder mounted to the Plano when not in use.  In the smaller top compartment I keep spare flares, water dye markers and sunscreen.  The main compartment holds my drift chute, a couple waterproof Plano tackle boxes, the case for my FF unit, an extra bottle of water, a small first aid kit, and a small waterproof dive case that holds my wallet, keys and cell phone.  Sometimes lunch too, depending on the day.  That leaves enough room to stash my windbreaker when I get warm.  I think that's it...

I know West Marine has them.  Your local Wally World might have them also.  As you might remember Sean, I ended up going with the 4 singles and mounted them at offset angles - a la Molbasser.

Yes, I got mine at West Marine.  If I was to do it again I think I'd go with the singles though, and mount them at offset angles.

I bought a plano box from WM a year or two ago to use on my P13, but it doesn't fit right.
It won't go down into the well very far.

The bottom of my plano is aprox 12.75" x 6.5". Do other P13 owners have the same problem?

Troy,

Before you start pimping your Plano, you might consider measuring the area of the tankwell where you'll be putting the box.  I found that my Adventure will take the largest Plano box only after I purchased the medium size box (because that was what everybody else had) and started pimping.  I thought, man, that is alot of left over space and then went and got the biggie, and sure enough it fit perfectly.  The bigger box allows me to store more stuff with less wasted space.  Just food for thought.

Michael

The triholder from west marine doesn't fit on the Trident. You have to get 3 singles.
