I hit the river at Phoenixville for about an hour after work Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Tuesday I got skunked, but yesterday I picked up a chunky 10" Smallie that hit a Salty Spider, and a Rock Bass on a Texas rigged 3" Senko. The river is really high right now, and seems really snaggy, though I only lost two rigs in two evenings of fishing. I may hit a different portion of the river tonight, or maybe check out Marsh Creek State Park.

Being a bankie sucks :(

Non-yak, non-NorCal, no photos...  You're skating on thin ice, Pal!   :smt002

Where the heck are you anyway?

I'm doing a short gig here in Pennsylvania. I'd love to post pictures, but my kid seems to have done a great job hiding my Olympus. A replacement is $220, so it is going to be a while before I post pix.

Want more thin ice? 6/2-4 in Saint Louis, 6/5-6 in Auburn Hills MI, 6/9-10 in Eagan MN. All non-NorCal, all from the bank...

I'm bringing a fishing rod with me for these trips, just to see what I can catch after work. If airlines hadn't started charging for a second bag, I'd seriously consider one of the lighter IKs and a breakdown paddle :)

Alright, Scott.  You can't illustrate in one thread how you spent two weeks and thousands on gear and travel last year in pursuit of kayak fishing glory and then claim that you are unable to post photos!   :smt002  How about googling the spots you're at and posting someone else's images just to show where you and are what you're experiencing.  Your being in a distant locale is leaving me wanting more than text - I need some visuals!

I'll look forward to the reports from St. Louis, AH, and MN.   :smt001

My younger brother used to row on the Schuylkill river in the "Dad Vales" back in the late 90's.  He rowed pair without and won two years in a row.  His wife won pair without once too.  They are both in disgusting good shape.

Pretty area.  There's huge outcrops of phyllite (shiny rock) along the river which is neat to look at.

If you get a chance, go to New Hope, about an hour north of where you are.  Cute little town.

I stood on a former railroad right-of-way on the bank of the Shuylkill River 3-years ago in the Spring and watched the water go by.    It was near the little 'burb' of Audubon, PA.    It was SO pretty.  Gorgeously "rivery" smelling.

Interesting:   All the guys who'd built their houses on lots directly in the floodplain of the river......and then cinder-blocked up the first level high enough that the second level would escape the water.   They lived in the 2nd level and parked their cars & boats in the first level.    Something like, you know, Yankee Enginuity.

Hey John - honestly, this is the second time he's hidden the dang thing.

sigelvictory - A three day license costs $26 here, and is my first such purchase to date. Non-resident one day licenses in MI, MO, and MN shouldn't be all that pricey either. It's going to take a fair number of these to add up to an 850SW + silicone skin + XD card.

Abking - Part of the money spent up in AK last year, was the purchase of the 720SW. I'm just not ready to spend the money for a new one just yet, what with the missing camera less than a year old. And you know that as soon as I purchase a new one, the old one will show up. I suppose if that happens, I could sell it here though... I did take advantage of the Sharper Image going out of business sale here at King of Prussia mall, and picked up the Oregon Scientific waterproof video camera for a C-note. Maybe I'll grab some video in a couple hours and post that. If you really want to get a geographical feel for where I am use Yahoo! or Google maps, and look for Mont Clare PA. I was fishing the area just downstream of the dam. You can also search for "Schulkill Smallmouth Bass Fishing" and see some other video. Heck, let me make it easy for you:

Go to riversmallies forum, and do a search on Schuylkill in the reports section to see what others were catching, and some discussion on the health of the river.

Anyway, I'm packing up, gonna hit the river for a couple hours at daybreak, then off to the airport.

Regards,
Scott

Scott when you get to MO let me me know if a short term is available the only Non-R license I see on their web site is the yearly. I'm headed there soon.

mickfish - will do !

Anyway, 3 fish on a Rat-L trap this morning. I've got video that I can post later. Had to get nekkid to go retrieve the lure with fish attached, from an overhanging branch. No video of the nekkid retrieval though. And yes, as I'm wading out to get the lure/fish, I was really truly realizing the suckitude of being a bankie. However, it was gratifying to see that my East Coast Smallie fu was not completely lacking, though all I came up with were dinks.

Probably best not to mention video, nekkid, and dink in the same paragraph, Thornley!   :smt005

Underwater video cam for $100?!  Damn - that's a deal.  Be careful - you might just get all wrapped up in it like me...   :smt002

I'm glad to hear you're posting some visuals later.  I'll look forward to that.

I am amazingly unimpressed by the video quality from the Oregon Scientific waterproof camera. I might be able to get something worthwhile out if it when in full sunlight, but I won't subject you to the video from Friday morning.

John - and what makes you think that it was I that let xiao er mou get near the camera? Anyway, I've resurrected my old S50 and am taking pictures yet again. I just can't let it get wet, so it lives in a small Pelican case.
