What are everyones favorite rod and reel makers?  I know most of you probably have different favorites for different occasions, so pretend you are getting a sponsorship, and you can only pick one company for the rest of your life. (one rod, one reel)  :smt010

Personally, I would have to say Fenwick rods, with shimano reels.  I know they arent real sexy pics, but you go with what you know... :smt002

I'm assuming that if I'm sponsored I can ignore the price of the equipment...  :smt007

For reels I would also go with Shimano.

Rods is a tough one for me since my favorites are custom made and although I like several of my mass produced rods, there isn't a single manufacturer that stands out. There are manuf for bass rods I like best, and manuf for jigging, and I'd like the Okuma Baidarka, but there is only one line of rods that I have hands on experience with that covers almost all of the different types of fishing I like to do. With their crucial series bass and salmon rods, and trevala jigging rods, and talavera surf rods, hate to say it but if I only could choose one manufacturer I think I would go with Shimano rods and reels.

i can only pick one?

Penn reels...i'm still amazed that my SS spinning reel is still going- despite being submerged a zillion times in salt water-- AND never rinsed.

St Croix rods...for some reason i just like the way they feel.  now, this could change after this next big cash outlay...i think i'm going shimano/shimano annd okuma/abu garcia(rod/reel)

Penn really does build them tough...  I treat mine like crap too.  Still works though
