Counted at least 9 steelies, some going 30 inches. Next time Im buying a couple dozen crickets at the pet store, drop em off the bridge thats 2 feet upstream. These are some safe fish.

Way cool.  I used to wade those creeks in my youth.

Hey Guitazan - That is really amazing to see steelies in a local creek this time of year! Is this a surprise to you or do you know about a summer run in the local waters? I've always thought that Marin waters held small winter runs of iron heads, a summer run seems like a freak thing. Have you seen this before?

Just wondering, Tom

They've been here for months. All the townies know there here, there's even a few folks who keep watch at night. They catch some people trying to fish for them once in a while, kids, but its right next to the police and fire station so there pretty safe from the hook. Its getting hot so I figure its time for them to go to the blue soon. We saw a jumper today, way cool.

Guitarzan - That is really amazing! It's been soo dry this year - is there enough water for these fish to get back to the bay? 40 years ago I would  have been fishin for them too but now I know better - I hope they make it.

Steelies are the most beautiful of all IMHO.  Tom

Awesome.  My mom grew up on that creek (on SFD across from the Post Office) and said her grandfather used to fish for salmon and steelhead with a PITCHFORK they were so thick in there!  I used to play in that creek every summer as well when my grandparents still lived there.  I do not pass over any of those bridges without looking down for fish.

I grew up in Larkspur and have explored that creek many times. I used to catch crawdads and use them for bait for the whoppers at Pheonix Lake... It's great to see that the old tributaries are getting visitors again. I watched those fish a couple of weeks ago. The yseem very hungry. I'm glad that the community is doing everything possible to keep the fish from poachers. It's great to be able to watch them in the wild. It's great to hear the support from you all regarding thease fish. If we all follow the same rule we will have great fishing in the years to come. "TIGHT LINES"!

Thanks for the cool pics Ben!
They gotta' be leftover winter run?
I hope they make it out to the big pond.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

They are likely stuck in the pool with no spring rains to get them back to the ocean...theyll appreciate the crickets!  Pray for rain!
