Hey jmairey! this is for you, or any other DIY reel guys http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?p=1964802

brian, mooches model (post 2007) comes with carbontex, but it is not greased. no problem if not taken to salt water.

joel, they make spectra that is colored but not lead core. ask mickfish to explain it to you. you will love it.

I have a pflueger trion 7' 2-8lb rod for trolling. so fun! and I did land a 17" LMB and small striper on it too.

shim, reel mod is always fun. I have about 10 ambassadeurs in various configs, all of them used from ebay and tricked out one way or another.

for trout and freshwater trolling i have two 'royal express' models which are black 5601s (have clicker). the handles and drag are upgraded on those. I paid less than 35 for them on ebay.

when I went on tani's boat for rockfish, I caught a ling, verm and big copper on a 4600 with 20lb fireline in 160 feet of water.

what great reels for kayak fishing!

mickfish, you always have the best old stuff...

Joel once you use this line for trolling you will never go back you can still fish the way you want but after you hook a fish you can go back to the same spot without thinking about it, I guarantee you will catch more fish and the best thing about it is when you catch a fish you can radio me and tell me how many colors you have out very simple you will love it. Plus you can trip on all the pretty colors.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

That’s a sweet looking reel Joel trout beware :thumleft:, I have been trolling with a pair of Lamiglass 7’ Kokanee Specials teamed up with Abu Garcia 5500C3 for awhile now and I love them :smt007, you got to have two one on top and the other down deep looking for a big Trout :fishing1.

I would love to but I got too much going on Stacey just got back from Russia and we are having a party for her on Sunday and I'm clearing off the river Place I will be at the river most of the weekend and can get out for a few hours. PM me your address and I have 150 yds I'll send you. If you want smallies Sonoma is pretty damn good right now if you know where to go they are putting on weight and are hungry.
