Brian and I launced near Schoolhouse Beach this past Saturday.  It's a rough launch site, but the birds were divebombing that morning.

By the time we got out there (9ish), the fish had gone down, but there was still bait in the water.  I dropped a mooched anchvie down and snagged a black rf.  Dropped down again and WHAM!

Salmon on!

Sunday morning the sportboats were all over MY spot :smt019 . . .we didn't head out.

But Monday, we got out there early to find all the birds (and salmon) were all north near Duncan's point.  Crap!  So we dragged herring around inshore.  Guess we drifted over some sand, cuz again. . .WHAM!

Halibut on!

[my house is in the background]

We fooled around throwing jigs and scoring a mess of rockfish, but we released most of em since we had dinner in the boat.

I imagine if we ever time it right and get in the middle of the birds, it might be a wide open salmon frenzy.
We'll keep trying,

Levi

Good going Levi... those are some nice fish!

Pretty convenient living right on the water like that...

Heard of any action near the Russian River lately?

I'm thinking of taking my surf rod down to the mouth of the Russian River after work one of these days... I remember last  year a couple guys were catching salmon from the beach later in the summer.

Enough with the praise, your feeding his ego and he's going to get a big head.

I'm Levi's usual fishing partner / photo documenter / fish landing assisant and it's hard enough watching him catch all the big fish.  But, I'm hoping that by assisting Levi's fishing feats first hand without a big fish of my own I'm increasing my good fishing karma for the Elk Tourney.

Man, you cats got some nuts launching/landing in some of those spots!

Awesome fishing, fellas.

I've been surf fishing from the Salmon Creek area and there's been literally thousands of pelicans working the breakers out there.
