Frank, you should consider trolling on your way out to the bouy. The market-size squid are in. Guys were getting them off the wharf. That means WSB are nearby!!!
Good luck!

Frank -

I find MBK to be really slow in May-June because the kelp isn't grown in. Might want to consider, stillwater, monastary or Pt Joe, IMO.

Understood, But the sanddabs are constant at the mile bouy and we love sanddabs in our household ;} Plus i'll be heading out again the next day from Canary Row to fish near the kelp there. Have a couple of new folks who want to try out the sport. Frank

Thanks Scott, already have this printed up and where we will be all blue zone. The Marine Aquarium is clearly marked with buoys as the boundary and I'll down load all the other boundaries on my GPS. Besides this area is all blue zone and my intended hunt doesn't come close to the restricted area's. However; I am temped to get close to the Aquarium and wave my stringer at them  :smt006 You In..... :smt003

Hey Frankieboy!
We have confirmation…..WSB were caught from the wharf yesterday!!!! Told you so. When the squid arrive, the bass are right behind them. I'll check it out after work today.

Frank -

I have a business trip to Bakersfield on Friday and will fishing LK Saturday morning. If the WSB are in the bay, I may fish MBK on my way home saturday. BTW, if you can't catch live squid for bait, jigging a white Sumo Jr with a whole squid trailer on the kelp lines has worked well for me against SCAL WSB. I have never fished them in Monterey so it may be different.

Just returned from the wharf. No WSB seen today. The squid have moved out to deeper water. But guys were crushing the smelt. Some nice big ones too. They are all over. Lots of people fishing w/sabikis. But a few had a spare rod rigged w/bass lures, just in case.

I'd reccommend something squidish. Either plastics or white spoons. As long as its white. I have not caught a WSB so I'm no expert.

The wind looked to be picking up outside. Maybe a stiff onshore breeze will push the squid back into the harbor. I'll try to check back this afternoon.
With a full moon on Monday, maybe a brief night-fishing trip is in order?

Man, I'm getting stoked. Even some large smelt would do the trick for me at MBK and that's how we hooked WSB down south last Mothership trip. Hey Sin if available I will send a PM to you with my Ph# and maybe you can give me some insider stuff on Corral St. for our newbie friends and I for Sat.

I can confirm Sin Coast's WSB report, today I heard of a "single", but yesterday was a
1st. Two landed, 21lbs. & 30lbs. Not by me, but "the boys". Also, water is cold, but still
flatties about as well...  Bring everything! No promises, but lot's of opportunities right now. Good luck...
