Working for a FoodService Supplier I get a lot of comps to eat at a lotta restaurants but I am pretty picky and rate the food in overall value. I am not happy unless all the courses are good and since I know what they are buying I check before I go so I rarely order anything they buy frozen or prepared. There are only a few Restaurants I reccomend when asked. Friday was the wife's B Day so were were going to go out but when I got home she didn't feel like it. She loves fried Chicken so I got some take out from a place 2 blocks from my house called the Red Rose Cafe sorta of a greasy spoon in our local strip mall. Were we surprised everything we got was cooked to perfection really nice couple from Arkansas own the place and the prices were pretty good.
I had Cornmeal fried catfish with mac and cheese, collard greens and cornbread She had fried chicken with swt. Potatoes, Mac&cheese, corn bread and Buttermilk pie. When I was waiting for the food they gave me a rib and it was killer all for $23 and we couldn't eat it all but we tried. They  have daily specials at very good prices. Now I just gotta stay away. If you like Southern or Soul Food check it out. http://www.redrosecafe.com/

Thanks for tip. i am always looking for new places to eat here in santa rosa. i am definately gonna get some of those ribs. the prices are really reasonable. one of my favorite places for good, fresh, cheap food is pho vietnam located in the strip-mall just south of hwy12 on stony-point. i reccomend the #15 beef pho noodle soup, the shrimp spring rolls, and the iced vietnamese espresso w/condensed milk.

Jack try the Pho at Simply Vietnam on Dutton they use leaner beef than most I have tried. They don't flavor it up with fat.

Cool, i have driven past simply vietnam many times. it is actually closer to my house than the other vietnamese place. Where do you like to eat when you are ready to throw some coin. One of my favorites is Monti's in montgomery village. Everthing i have eaten there has been great. They have a wood fired rotisserie. if you go on sunday, they have rotisserie prime rib with bleu-cheese butter that makes me week in the knees. probably the lack of blood-flow from artery-clogging goodness of it all.

That's stuff is killer your making me drool I rarely order beef when I go out I enjoy cooking it too much and would rather spend the $$ on a nice cut.
Kenwood Bar & Grill,Zin and The FarmHouse I also like going to Cazanoma Lodge the foods not super but being out there makes up for it.
I have been in a lot of the Kitchens and Kenwood B&G has the cleanest most well run Kitchen I have ever seen.

Kenwood B&G = Kenwood Restuarant correct?

Max and Susan are next door neighbors of ours when I was going up in that little town.  They have excellent food and are fantastic hosts.

Fantastic place. I've actually worked in that kitchen way way way back when it was Roy's Rancho.

Another great sushi place - Osaka (sp?) in Montgomery Village.  If you're a frequent diner you get your own chop sticks there.  Provided he likes you enough.

Osake is my favorite sushi joint for sure. When the WAF is low and the pocket book is full,I take my wife to Osake. The martini prawns are heavenly. We also like the utah roll which is not on the printed menu. Then we wash it down with the cold nigori sake. After that she will practically carry my boat to the water for me.

KJ-
I forgot about the Utah.  I had my buddy order that one night for a $200 take out run.  I can't remember if it helped the WAF or not.  i didn't care as long as it was good.  Those were good, damn good.  I think I'll make a run there next week when I visit Pops and my brother.

The mexican place on Stony Point and Sebastopol Rd. is Pepe's. I like El Patio better.

Also, the best sushi I've ever had is at Senju in Windsor.
