Met up with Duane, Dave and Rick at 0610 and followed them out to about 2 miles out. No love so I paddled into the rock wall break and scored a nice Hali that I just finished a piece of for dinner.
Used  a fish trap lure in pink 5" and worked the current . Lure was hit on the slow reel and felt at first like a plastic bag until the Hali hit the fresh air and then it was on. Mr. Hali took a couple of runs with the last one I introduced him to Mr. Gaff; Game over. Took out the trusty night stick and lights out. I'll let everyone else chime in about there catches.

Back at launch with dinner

Great results but I'm pleasantly surprised that you caught it on a plastic lure especially when you were out fishing with Duane and Dave the "masterbaiters".  Can't argue with the results though and it shows that fishing is still good when you're not fishing live or frozen bait.

Awesome news on the butt haul...just out of curiosity did you guys catch any stripers or see anyone with one on their stringer?  Was there any wind to speak of?  I'm trying to gauge how the weather reports relate to the actual conditions.

WTG NCKA bros,

Gary

Nice going frank :smt007, I went out with my son Matthew in our PB out of Berkley we caught 4 halibuts all 21”(to small) :smt013 and a 28” striper we had two line burners one popped the line must have had a neck in it I am pretty sure it was a big striper :smt010 and the other came un-buttoned big halibut :smt005, it was a fun day but no dinner :smt009.

Hybernation must be over haven't heard from  KayakJames in a long while. How's the family? Frank

Way to go, Frank and Duane.  Great report.   :smt001
The other Hali's were caught on live bait,"shinners" that Duane and Dave netted the night before. Thanks guys for getting the bait as always.

Congratulations,

Nice Hali.

S.

Their was a PB with a 35 lber that he said he caught at the Berkley flats earlier in the morning. Mine was caught at slack tide right at the mouth of the break in the wall throwing a fish trap into the only moving water. Thanks.

Just a flat version. By the way those cats from Mendo were delicious. Meooow.
Sweet Frank! And no catfish either!

CHEERS!

Welcome back Dave but if I went out today I would be used for bait myself.

Right on, Frank!  Were you fan casting the fishtrap, or just bouncing it along with the drift?
