Try fishing at a different depth?  DUH... LOL.  No idea mike... if it was the transducer you wouldnt get any signal at all right?  Hope it isnt the head unit.  Is that an eagle, or a lowerance.  (same thing right?) If it is the same you can try plugging it into my transducer and give a whirl that way. I have the x50ds.  Looking online at your manual, the pins look the same as mine.  Maybe we can meet up at Sonoma or Mendo this coming monday.

this is a strange coinsidence: CHECK THE DEPTH

Yeah, looking at your unit online i bet it will plug into my transducer.  The two units are perfectly identical except for the name on them... SORRY FOR BEING A SMARTASS... just trying to bring a little levity to the situation.

I crack myself up.

Yeah but in the demo mode the bottom contour changes and so does the depth... no luck there.  So if the startup screen comes on at 54.8 and then never changes... that sounds like a computer lock up crash sorta symptom.  Probably nothing all that simple.. I hope Im wrong...

Thanks guys I tried everything except except another transducer. It been building sometimes working then I shut it down and it comes back works fine until I shut it down again got some other crazy readings this weekend but it never marked the bottom or fish. I think SV is on the right track. I don't feel too bad it's made a over hundred trips that's less than a buck a trip and it always good to upgrade.
Anybody using a Hummingbird 525?

I think Sean just ordered that one. I hate to say it, but I don't recommend the color FF because the eat the battery real fast. My battery only lasts 5 hours now, when it used to last about 25 with a b&w w/out gps. (I still kind of think the color is worth it if you're not out for more than 5 hours).

Dan

P.S. maybe a bubble of air under the transducer? I've been struggling with bubbles for a while now, but fixed it by going to kitchen and bath silicone.

I've been using a 525 for about a year now and haven't had any problems. It's powered with a 12v 7ah battery. Can fish for days without recharging. No complaints. - Ben

You are making me think the 245 won't start in demo mode.
No air bubble I use a water donut(hungry Dan) :smt003 I tried it with the puck hanging in the water.
On Eagles site they say to do a Reset and try another transducer I'll give that a shot.

It works fine in demo mode wonder if that means the unit works and it's just the puck

I was wondering about that...

Like I said Mike, if you dont have immediate access to a transducer you are more than welcome to plug into mine and see what happens.  You can even drop the head unit off where I work in windsor or something and I will take it home.  Drop the Hobie in the pond out back and see if I get anywhere with it.

Hey Mike, are you planning on going anywhere on Monday?  I was thinking of giving sonoma or mendo a shot.  Pillsbury could be fun too.
