Hooked up with Hobieblue and Sumo 152 for some largemouth action at Big Break.  We launched at sunrise to the last of the outgoing with a very low tide to follow.  The low was pretty brutal with no action and an unefective striper trolling effort while waiting for the water to come back.  Hobie started us off in the early afternoon with a very nice fish, I'll let him share the details.  Soon after the bite was on, I missed my first fish of the day.  Seems to be a trend lately.  Wound up with about 7 or 8 on the day, finishing with a buzzbait fish.  Jig bite was good when the water was up, spinnerbait was good on the rocks.  Topwater is just starting to be effective at the right time of day.  No fish of good size landed for me today, had more get away then landed, one of those days.   :smt011  Nice to meet you Ben, we'll have to get you out there during a decent tide sometime!

Thanks Kevin for sharing your waters...there are big bass in Big Break!!!

It was a painfully slow morning: at least 5 hours without a bite.  Then, I got one to bite on the worm, after a good jump and a short battle of tug-o-war, it came unbuttoned.  Looked to be about 3-4 pounds.  About 15 minutes later, another nip, and the fight was on...another big bass!  This one went 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 24.5 inches in length, with a big huge mouth on it.

Later in the evening, I picked up two more fish up to three pounds.  The last one hit a top water frog; my first top water fish of the season.

Even though it was a tough bite, the companionship didn't make it seem like a slow day.

See ya'll out there next time.

It was a rough day for me.  Bryan is proof that patience pays off.  After hours with no bites, I started to lose interest.  Just when I was about to throw in the towel, I hear bryan hollering for someone to take a picture. What a fish!

I went back today and managed to catch one little crappie.  I was actually targeting them, so that little fish was a reward for me.  It was the first crappie I have caught, and my wife is frying it as I type this.

Thanks Adam, I have been wanting to catch crappie for a long time.  The only problem was that there weren't any more.  Oh well, the hunt isn't over.
