First post from a lurker here ;)
Names Matt and I am born and raised here in good ole Petaluma. Purchased an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 last summer and have never looked back. I have been to many places so far including Lake Mendocino, Lake Solano, Tomales Bay, Petaluma River, and most recently Bodega Bay launching through surf in Doran Park. Anyways my first post is a non-yak at my favorite non-boat lake, Bon Tempe in Fairfax. Got a couple pics and will be posting everytime I go from now on. Sorry my first post is non-yak but I need to break the ice and get my feet wet here. So here goes.... Pics are from most recent outing on 4/13 afternoon trip. Fish was caught on gold 1/4 ounce Kastmaster from shore of course. Side note: Bon Tempe is most often planted lake in the North Bay receiving 1000lbs every two weeks in addition to supplemental stocks of bigger fish from time to time. Good option if you don't mind shorelining it. Good power-bait dunking lake. If your too lazy to deal with the yak go here for a couple hours. 7 dollar entry fee gets you in and park closes at sundown. Great hiking trails around the whole lake as well. Blue herons and Cormorants make things interesting as well. Healthy population of small and largemouth bass as well. Heres the pics.....

Nice fat healthy 14" Rainbow (made a very nice dinner!)

Heres my goofy ass so you can all see what I look like

Heres my partner in crime ;)

One more pic of my catch

Thanks for reading and hope you guys enjoy. Next post will definately be on a yak.

Welcome!
I joined the group a few months back and have found great people and tons of information on many things fishing and kayaks. I was born in Petaluma too but so long ago that they have long since torn that hospital down!

Great first post, thanks for sharing.

Welcome aboard Matt!!!

I bought my P13 last summer from  Margaret at Kayak Connection (Santa Cruz)and its a great yak. Bought my wife a Venus and she loves it.

I'm installing a Humminbird 535 this weekend, and finishing up pre rock fish prep.

It's almost time.......

Jees u guys are quick! Already enjoying responses to my first post(what took me sooo long??). You guys are awesome here. Can't wait to hook up with fellow NCKA's to do some fishin and chillin. Have been thinking lately about doing trip down the Petaluma from downtown all the way down to Blackpoint and stopping halfway at Papa Taverna's greek restaurant(they have there own dock I might add!) and getting lunch. It is a 13 mile trek but I think it would be awesome and if you time the tides right you wouldn't have to paddle much but just let the tide float you downstream. Any takers? ps...
Abking I love how you respond to everyones post and give them shit for not putting pics. You have some awesome reports and when I get up to humboldt this summer i'd like to do some fishing wit ya...thanks again to everyone that posts here. oh yeah and SteveS you seem like the marin native with the most info on everything...would love to hook up with you sometime too... Never fished kent but Bon Tempe has been off the hook in the mornings and evening with trout everywhere on the surface. Ive been getting bit about every two casts...and landing about half the fish...tired of eating trout for a while so ive been letting them go back to get bigger or eaten by a cormorant, which ever comes first ;)

thanks for the welcomes Great Bass and Swellrida.... jus wanted to give you my 2 cents on the dead from my perspective Great Bass... It was somewhere in 1983/84 that my mom's older sister Jill happened to be working at a small cafe somewhere in Marin that a gentleman by the name of Phil Lesh happened to go to frequently, in the midst of serving coffee and breakfast to him on a regular basis they began seeing  each other and eventually getting married. They have two children Grahame and Brian(my cousins) together and have been happily married over 20 years now. Since the time I have been in my mothers stomach I have been at Dead shows backstage, dancing in my diapers on stage, and basically growing up going to concerts frequently until Jerry died in 95. Then as I got older different incarnations of the Dead sprung off from the original members including The Other Ones, Phil Lesh & Friends(my uncles band), Ratdog, and many collaborations between different member with other artists.  So to say the least i've been in the scene for a long time now even though I know its nothing like it was when it began way back in 65' when they changed their name from the Warlocks and became The Grateful Dead as we all know today. always wish I was born in like 1950 or something around there....oh well....anyways sorry to ramble so much but I enjoy sharing my experiences....im lucky to have grown with the Dead as it made me who I am today....they are so much more than just music

I'd be up for that on a Sunday or Monday after CSBA, are you thinking of putting cars at both ends?
