Was up in Reno yesterday to pay my union dues and get back on the outta work list. Afterwards, I hit the Truckee river(from shore) for some therapy. Tossing a cd9 rainbow, I landed this 27" 6 pound 10oz Brownie! No net, no pliers, a snapped line at my feet. Wish I could have let it go. New PB for Browns!Good luck, Eric :smt001

Man what a brute of a German.  Absolutely beautiful fish!  Job well done.

Wish I could have let it go.

Out of curiosity, since you mentioned it, what prevented the release?  I know for me it would have been quite a dilemma for sure despite the fact that I've started to release most of my catch.

WTG! That is a beautiful trout.  I've done some electrofishing around that area and browns that size are rare.

Thanks everyone for the kind words :smt002 Imagine that perfect lie, 70 feet on the other side of the river. Visulize that lure hitt'n dead center....tap...tap..BAM!!! I had driven my wifes car to save gas, so I only brought 1 rod, my small box and license. When I beached the fish, the line snapped at my feet. I lunged down to grab it, smashing my knee on the rocks. The lure was stuck reely well and without my pliers it wasn't coming out. My criteria for C&R for Browns is 5-10 pounds, till I get one over 10. Also, I usually try to release most fish caught in creeks and rivers. It would have been sweet to release a PB Brown like this after a couple quick Pic's. Lesson learned:BE PREPARED! It pulled the wire out of the back and bent the front hook. Thanks again and Good luck, Eric :smt001

That is an awesome fish. One question. What is that big thing on the very back of the fish?? The only trout that big that I have seen posted do not have anything like that. Not even close.  It sure makes for a purty lookin' fish. :smt044
