Thanks guys!

John - The SNG-PBG combo is a killer lure and I guarantee you that I will hook something on it this year. I love the action and ease of changing colors. It is super cool looking in the water. I ran it on the downrigger. Thanks!  :smt006

Michael - I am still using the JSR5 with black wooly bugger teaser as my go to "hail Mary" rig. I use a powerbait worm trailer on the wooly bugger to provide the scent trail. Saves some time having to reapply scent to a hard lure. :smt007

Chuck - I will join the AOTY when you add yellowtail, tuna and WSB since I will not fish sturgeon. Only a matter of time before someone in NCAL starts mothership albacore trips. :smt003

Impressive size!   :smt007  Hope you do the dissection and let us know whats in the gut.  love to know what that pig was eating in its time in SPR.

Martin -

You know what they say "big fish eat little fish". Probably why big trout have big teeth. It was feeding on minnows and shad. What I can't figure out is how something so fat with no tail could catch a minnow or shad unless it lays on the bottom like a hali and waits for something to swim by.  :smt044

Dude! Scott, you might have to change your name to Great Trout 2 if you keep landing pigs like that one! Way to be persistent w/the big fish lure!

Don't forget to pick up some Jointed ShadRaps too.  I know those are some of Scott's favorites - maybe even what he got that big lunker on, I'm unsure.

Michael and Adam -

That is correct it was the JSR5 that I caught the trout on with Owner needle point hooks and in Adam's favorite colors, silver and black. I think you get more hookups with the Owner hooks but you have to buy 2 different sizes because the tail hook is smaller.  :smt013 I tried running a larger hook on the tail but it changes the action of the lure and it's the tail action that drives fish crazy. The SR5 runs shallower, has a slightly smaller profile and does not rattle or suspend. I use them to target different depths and species. Probably shouldn't post this much detail since Allen and Z will find out but you still have to find the fish and present the lure correctly to get bit. That is where they separate the men from the boyzzzz. Good luck NWKA, you are going to need it.  :smt005

Thanks for the breakdown Scott/ Michael, ...the TROUT SLAYER says the jointed gets missed by the trout a lot more than the straight does. I experienced this on two trips of trolling w/missed hook- sets.
But I still got them and THEY WILL be TROLLED AGAIN!

that's some pretty TRASHY Talk your speaking Scott!  :smt009

Don't worry GB2, a lot of our lakes average 'bows 11.5#'s. Plus the lakes up here have really clear water so I doubt they'd fall for lure XHG7583639...

Let's hope your luck holds up and you can at least get another "shaker" on the weekend when it counts. :smt003 [/smack_talk]

Really though, that is a sweet fish. Nice one GB2.

Hey Z

Sorry, couldn't help but talk a little smack. We know you have big trout and great anglers up north. Unfortunately I had already scheduled a business trip to Clear Lake that weekend and planned to fish Mendo so I will miss the throwdown. Just wanted to let you know that I have the ability to catch big trout if I want to. If you really want to have a trout competition, you should have it during trout season which is January-April or during the fall turnover. June is saltwater fishing or bass, IMO. Maybe we can get Raymac in a yak.  :smt005 Good luck.  :smt006
