Dive bags that don't breathe are trouble.  I say its doable with a modfied mesh dive backpack.  Swap your lead belt for a soft belt pouch that you can fill with rocks at the beach (measure weight with a small spring scale.....not ideal but neither is riding a bike for ab diving  :smt002
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

If I had to carry dive equipment on a motorcycle, then I would use a really a low center of gravity chrome bars/ saddlebag frame just low and forward of my rear wheel, along the line of the swing-arm but away from the heat of the engine and exhaust.   I would put the heaviest things, such as the weight belt, at the bottom.

Matt beat me to it...I was going to recommend saddlebags.  I have a couple of leather ones on my 1100 Shadow, and between those, a backpack and the option of strapping a duffel bag on my sissy bar, I can haul a lot of stuff.  Or, since you're running a crotch-rocket rice burner, you could just pick up a rear rack for behind the seat and strap a duffel on it, which should hold just about anything you'd need.
You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing...

i have a kawasaki z1000 2003 model and i was thinking of welding up a saddlebag rack for it so that i can put some cortech saddlebags on it and just wrap the wet gear in plastic bags when inside so the salt water does not drip down the bike.

i'll see if i can draw something up. that will be a fun weekend project.

great ideas though, i'll let you know what i come up with!

thanks folks!

I couldn't help but register on this site to respond. I have been lurking for a little while now. Long time free diver, hunter and fisherman here. Just purchased a wilderness systems tarpon 160i. I have run two types of bikes up the coast on diving missions. The first was a 86 Kawasaki concours. a 1000 cc of sport touring fury made short work of Highway 1 twisties, even with an occasional passenger. i put 25k mi on the bike before she threw a rod. :smt009
last wednesday I ran my kawasaki klr 650 up from the east bay area to my girls house in santa rosa, Woke up around 10 and putted up the coast. Bout a two hour ride from her house. Fairly overcast, the vis was only about 10 ft. Got the abs and hit a few fish on the sling. I have ridden back really fatiged so I try not to push it hard any more when divin solo on the bike. It's a lot of fun and i have had some amazing times. You gotta take wet wetsuits, ab, and ice into consideration on the journey home.
I will try to get some pics for you guys. I promise the fish will be bigger next time!

Happy riding, and rubber side down!

thanks for taking the time to register and show me the setup you have! that is a great way to get up there and i can understand the fatigue part of it after the diving. i think a dual sport is the way to go for this concept. i have a z1000 which is a street bike and would not do as well in offroad situations although im not opposed to taking it on a trail and its not like i keep it too clean since i got it salvaged. im going to think about this some more and see how i can rig mine up to go diving.
thanks again for sharing!

Wheelingwillie I was looking at the KLR 2007 model but ended up with a Aprilia Caponord. My question is who did the camo job on the bike I like it like that.

The KLR might be a litte underpowered for the job. After I rode the 1000 cc concours loader with dive gear and with a passenger with ease behind a comfy fairing, the dirt bike doesn't travel distance the same way. I think it could be done with just about any well powered bike. I did the camo myself and the sheets came from www.over-wraps.com.
