Fished at ARW from 11:00 to 6:00 or so, came back with just sunburn to show for it. After reading the reports on Coastside and the big hookup at Pt. Richmond on this site (by the way, congratulations to all who landed halibut up there), I decided in my contrary way that Alameda might be a little less crowded and thus preferable. When I got there I saw many many boats. I think all of the party boats must have been there, plus dozens of private motor boats. I guess I was wrong this time. Anyhow, I managed to get in a combination of trolling and drifting without getting run over. The boat traffic died down in the late afternoon. I saw two other kayakers, Sharky and a guy in a grey pedal kayak whose name I didn't get. I saw a few fish caught during the day, and I suppose the party boats wouldn't have stayed if they weren't catching at least a few, and Sharky had a couple of massive hits. I got nothing at all, so I reckon I still haven't figured out the right kind of rig. Til next time...

Way to give it a go Mike...

While we were fishing the shoals out of the Brickyard we heard some radio chatter about the ARW, and at one point someone (I think a party boat) said it was WFO at ARW... sounds like that may have been a diversionary ploy to get rid of all the boats at the Berkeley flats.
