The latest....

I was out in the bay on the east side of Mendo the other day looking for some bass action. I started off throwing a big lime-green and orange spinner bait, my go to right?  After about five casts I hooked into a little two pounder. I reeled him up and raised my rod tip to lift him into the yak...that's when my hybrid blood/clinch/double half hitch knot slipped and away he went. Back the brine deep.

Now I'm angry about loosing the fish and about loosing my spinner bait, but most of all I'm mad about my about my crappy knot....

Before I have time to really think about what just happened I see a fish jump about five feet away to my right...and he has my green and orange spinner with him!

Jingle jingle splash!.......jingle jingle splash....for the next twenty minutes that's all i hear......That little guy is all over the cove....jingle jingle splash..

What a day...the wind picked up and the water got choppy.

Jingle jingle splash.

Bummer about your knot and your lost spinnerbait.

Sounds like what probably happens when people with way too many body piercings try to pee!   :smt005

Hello Slammer,

A similar thing happened to a BassCar buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago, with a BBZ. Buddy hooks good sized fish 5lb. +/-, gets fish to boat, fish struggles and sinks back into the lake with the lure still attached. Less than a minute later the fish erupts to the surface and shakes the swim bait free. My buddy sees the fish swim away for the second time as he watches $45 sink.

I lost my $50 lunker punker to a 5# largie at Mandeville due to knot FU and a minute later he surfaces with this huge, bouyant expensive lure in his face about 10 yards away. he dived again just as I reached out for my punker and was gone. I still look for him every time I fish there.

I have never had a palomar knot fail me....had the line break, but the knot held.  Also the improved clinch knot is a "go-to" for me.....

I did that once @ Lex w/ a crankbait that had some good rattles in it. But it was shooka shooka splash. The line snapped and I felt so bad knowing that the bugger had a major piercing thanks to me. Goth LMB!
