Me and the Mrs did laps at Lafayette this afternoon. A sunny, windy Sunday afternoon in spring is not the best time to troll around this little reservoir, but I managed to slalom in and out of the peddle boats and keep away from the shore guys. I trolled various rapalas and kastmasters. Got one fish to the boat but he came unbuttoned at the last second. I just managed to identify it as a bass before it spat the hook in my eye. Hit a very small rapala in a brown trout pattern. A bigger rapala in firetiger got a couple of hits but i lost them after a struggle. I think I was trolling too far back. No hits for M'Lady.

I did see one angler leaving with a fish. He was using unbaited Eagle Claws and wearing an outfit of black and white feathers. He retired to a nearby tree for sushi. Now that was cool.

Right on!  Was it a bald eagle or an osprey?

Sounds like a cool day on the water.  Good Times!   :smt001

I assumed it was an Osprey. Bald Eagles are much bigger right?

Yes - much bigger!  I got pics of an osprey harrassing a bald eagle and it looked like a sparrow and a vulture!  Up to 9' wingspan I believe.   Keep that camera handy!  :smt001

I was just going to drift bait over the holes at the southern end, but all the arches on my FF were <10 feet, so I figured I'd troll it. Plus it was pretty windy and drifting bait in the wind is not much fun.
