Today was the last day of my fishing vacation on the delta.

Today there were a total of 6 yaks on the water in Whites Slough.  Jason, James, Ben, Lee (Tailwalk), Joseph, and myself.  A plastic armada of bass hunters.  The bass must have been checking the message board too, because the bite was off a bit.  Tailwalk was the the first to boat a fish on a Senko.  I caught a fish about 1 1/2 hours into the trip.  Ben had difficulties getting bit, but tried hard throwing a variety of baits.  Joseph hooked up with a nice bass soon after.

I managed only one fish over 3 pounds today, at 3 lbs 7 oz on a swimbait.  I kept throwing my worm and picked up three more fish off the tulle's.  Later in the morning, Jason and James hooked up with me, and we worked worms for a while.  Jason and I each hooked two.  James kept trying to get bit on the worm, but couldn't seem to interest the fish into a tasty snack.  Later Jason's worm got tagged hard right at the boat, and after a lot of splashing the fish broke the line at the hook.  Darn, it was a real nice fish too.

As the tide continued to drop, Jason and I headed in for the day, and James stayed out to give it a try for another hour or so.

It was great to meet everyone today.  I really enjoyed the company.  James, Joseph, and Lee: post up, how'd ya'll do???
I wish the bite was better, but that's the way it goes out here on the delta.

All in all my 7 day delta fishing experience has been great.  I logged a lot of time on the water, checked out Whites thoroughly, caught some nice fish, and met some of the NCKA folks too.  It has been a blast.

Have a great week.

Bryan

Pictures:  3 lb 7 oz., 2 lb, 2 lb 10 oz., Jason's first of two fish.

Danglin: maybe someday, but I get motion sickness easily  :puke:

I'll stick with the freshwater stuff for a while.  Perhaps a dino hunt first, on a calm day in Monte??

The fish out there in the little ol' slough fear you now. Word must be out to watch out for any yaks. Might have to give them a little bit of time for their mouths to heal up some.  :smt001 Nice report... Glad to hear that you had a really nice vacation bagging big bass.

Hey Brian, thank you for sharing Whites Sl. It was good meeting you and Jason and good seeing you JoeD.

I landed about 4 LMB from 8oz to 2lb. Sorry, no pics; battery of my camera died. Anyway, lost a few incl. one that snapped my line. Man! It gave a real fight. I was drifting a weightless plastic (minnow pattern) then all of a sudden it pulled my drag like a zipper. I just held on, then.....Snap! I don't know what it was. But it was surely big.

That place has some fish...BIG fish!

A little tough with the wind... but it was a fun day. I might hit Calero tomorrow.

Hobbieblue, thanks for all your tips.

I stayed until 6PM, trying the edges slowly but I guess the water got too low, didn't get a single hit. I'd guess it probably dropped 3ft from the time we started. Saw a couple PBs on my way back and they said it was slow for them too so I don't feel too bad after all. The tide had turned for all of us.

Still, it was a beautiful day with great company on the water and I enjoyed every minute of it. As for fishing, there's always another day.

Hope to see you all next time.

James

James--way to stick it out, too bad you didn't get bit.  I'm glad you came out to give it a try and enjoyed the trip.

It was great to have such a super turn-out on Sunday.  I enjoyed sharing my spots with everyone.
Later this spring, the bass may be a little less tight lipped, I'll try to keep everyone posted on the action.

Bryan, just want to say Thanks for this past Sunday. Even though the fishing was slow and bit windy, I still had a great time. I will be back there trying to catch the big ones and hope to see you on the water again and thank again.
