South Bay waters... why only now!

It's my day off and wondering where to go... DV, LC, LB, ???? So many waters!!!! So little time!!!! Then, I thought of trying something new, Calero! I heard a lot of good tales about it so might as well try.

The morning was a little cool (~50deg) will a little breeze. Wind picked up early in the afternoon but weather was nice (~68deg), sunny. A few PBs, 3 pontooners.

The story goes... first started with 3 of the_grandkid, then the_grandma, and ended up with the_mama. I wasn't just good; it was great! All caught on plastics within 8-15ft deep (pre-spawn?).

I heard from one of the local pontooner (Mario) that Cayote and Anderson are also good waters for LMB. May try them this season.

We've got a bunch of big bass slayers around here lately.  Way to go, TW!   

Grandma looks familiar! I think I got her last year on the north side of the lake. Was she over 8 pounds? If she was it might be the same darn fish.

What was the water temp? Lat year it ws 54 because they were pumping cold water. Must be a bit warmer if they are pre bedding.

Hey Stephen, I am not sure how much it weighed. It's been a while since I landed a monster LMB. Mario, the pontooner who took the picture, figured it at 6+lbs.

Let me know and I will call-in-sick too (Don-Pogi, you too!). Water temp ranged from 54-56deg. Not that good for LMB but Calero rocks! There are some good things with mercury contamination... catch and release!

Oh yeah! It was a little tough but manageable. The morning breeze was fine. The afternoon breeze was a challenge. Thanks Yakuza!

NICE report fellas!  Calero is where I caught my first bass ever!  Been a few times since, and did fairly well!  Oddly even the jet ski's blowing by didn't even seem to change the bite!  Figure all that noise maybe makes them more agitated and willing to strike?  Haven't been on the water there, maybe try that some time this year!

I read reports about Calero and it is not recommended to fish on weekend. However, I heard it will get better.Just like what Splashdown is planning... call-in-sick!
