Guess it won't help while trolling the Farallons for salmon!

its the same question we all have been asking since the SS was invented, does it repel gws? WHy dont they put one on one of their employees and have them swim in a tank with a gws? until i see this, i dont see it logical to spend a few hundred bucks on something that creates more drag on my leg while freediving and has not been tested on our local sharks. any volunteers?

This sentence caught my eye as well:

"CSIRO shark expert Barry Bruce has told the inquest the shark that killed Stehbens was in "full predatory strike" mode and would have been nearly impossible to deter."

Seems like further research is necessary before I "bite" on the product.

Well, the electrodes do have to be in the water for it to work.  Otherwise it's about as effective as a light-bulb that's burnt out...  That's probably the problem with the surf version, when you stand up or lay your legs on the board one of the electrodes is out of the water.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
