Well I have made my purchase of a prowler 15 and now its time to equip it. I want your opinion on a few good fish finders for usage on both lake and ocean. Now I don't want to spend a fortune but I am willing to spend a few bucks on a good fish finder.

I like one that has a depth finder and a GPS in one. Everybody is different. And that is my two cents worth. WELCOME  :smt006

Do a search for "fish finder" in this forum and in Kayak Rigging and you should get hits for all the past chats on the subject. You could also do a search for all the forums because conversations on a given subject are not always in the correct forum.

I have the Eagle FishEasy 245 DS. I've only used it once, as I got it near the end of last season, but it worked great. It has a suction mount for the transducer, which fell off once or twice when i got up to speed. All in all, I would recommend it...
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I've got the Lowrance X50 DS fishfinder and so far I love it. I've used it in both saltwater and freshwater and have been very happy with it's performance so far. I've had it about 6 months now and have had no issues with it....so far...knock on wood. HTH

Humminbird lover here. I've got the 580 Combo w/ GPS. Really quality rig w/ good detailed scans. Dual beam is the shiznit! And love the big screen action!

The Prowler 15 has a scupper hole installation in the starboard tankwell designed for a Humminbird transducer. Like Z, I like the Humminbirds, I have a 383C on my Trident. Unbelievable sonar and display. The 2 things I didn't like, it requires a 4-5 amp battery, they charge you $89 for the transducer that mounts in the scupper hole.

That's the kind of crap that would keep me from buying a Trident :smt013, don't they make a model that comes with the transducer that fits. Let me guess Hummingbird and OK are owned by the same Co.

the x50 transducer can be gooped inside of the hull and it will shoot through the hull  nothing sticking out or no suction cups  Hobie makes a cool install kit for it

FYI, you can send in the tranducer that you get with any of the Hummingbird FF's and they will credit you for your old one and send you what you need. I had used mine for a while before opting for the scupper mounted one, so I didn't get to do this, but I heard the price difference is about twenty bucks.

I've got a Humminbird 757c w/gps. It's a color model and I love it. It's battery hawg, but it's got the bling factor!

In case that wasn't a rhetorical question.. the answer is yes, they are both owned by Johnson Outdoors.
