I'm not sure what it's called, but I just double up the line and tie a double knot there... "the bunny goes through the hole twice" so to speak.

Not a very sophisticated answer, but that's what I do.  With 80 lb mono, almost any old knot will do.

Thanks again Erik,

I caught my first 3 sturgeon (all shakers ~3 ft) yesterday up here in Portland.  The regs are a little different in Oregon (single barbless hook) and I was fishing in 80 ft of water; but these slides, your previous NCKA article and advice over the years certainly helped.

BTW, I have a feeling power boat fishermen up here have never seen any one fish from a kayak, let alone kayak fishing for sturgeon.  I must have had a half dozen boats ask me whether I was fishing and what I was fishing for.

If anyone's interested there is a C&R fishery of oversized sturgeon (6-11 ft) in the Columbia R later in the year using 3 lb shad as bait.

Congratulations Brian... you are blazing new trails up there.

Looking forward to an eventual "old man and the sea" report.

Erik... AWESOME presentation!  You covered it all.

Brian, congrats on the dino action.  3 fish in one day -- looks like you found a hot spot.  Next time, I hope to see your photo with a keeper or an oversize.
