After the week from hell at work, my wife took pity and told me to go fishing. The EMBUD inspection took maybe 5 minutes. I wanted to try grub trolling, but didn't get a hit after a few hours of both topwater and on the bottom. Defeated, I edged my way into the fleet soaking powerbait in the southend, ended up with two 2lbers. I saw a couple next to me net at least 5, and a family that got two that looked to be at least 5lbs each. Back home my wife & I shared one trucha, my 21mo kid ate most of the other by herself.

You do what you have to do to avoid Mr. Skunk!  At least you're able to accept defeat.  Me, I'm too damned stubborn which means I go home smelling - and not like fish. :smt011

Good report, mikechin.  Remember, a good photo's worth a thousand hours of soaking powerbait!   :smt002

I don't know of anyone who can catch trout at LR on the troll consistently. Personally, I think SPR, DV, quarry, shadow cliffs and Chabot are more consistent for trout trolling. LR is really good for catfish in the late summer and early fall. No, dishonor in using powerbait, just won't see me using it.  :smt044 Got enough fish in the freezer to soothe a good number of skunks.

I've all but GIVEN UP on that lake....it has them in it...they just don't know and have never had to chase food in their lifetime, therefore they don't!   I tried it all and came up with a 19"LMB to show for it once....there are BIG-Hungry Largemouth in there though.
They are smart and you'll have to sneak up on them, when they're in the tullie breaks/holes/bulbs.
Thanks for the report! and don't give because i did.
Keep on trollin'!!!
