C-lake  2/9  year of the spider

Conditions were perfect. Most of the day was glassy and warm.
The bite continues to be very slow and soft. Tournament boats are coming to weigh-in with 1 fish if they are lucky. There were alot of bassboats in the slips at RP. not a good sign, for them.
The bass are still in very specific spots and hunkered. Its wintertime and it calls for wintertime tactics.
Otobepelagic and Holy Toledo made a return trip to "the Land of the Lost" and they brought along a bucket of our closest allies.  Thanks Guys!
We decided to give haunts1 a break and headed south to haunts2 and way beyond.
I was fortunate to get a good fish right out of the chute, but it only matched my AOTY largemouth.
We put alot of water behind us ,and nabbed a few fish each, cruising the rocky southern shoreline of Konocti bay. We then headed back to RP for lunch then over to the point that has been so productive over the past few trips. We worked Scwafish's rockpile and it was even hotter than yesterday. Then it turned ON all over the point and we all caught ALOT of fish. But it was when I started drifting back that IT happened.
I have this spot that I havnt figured the why, but alot of fish hang out there. I paddled over into it and bendo, feels good, all ops are normal, feels better, then I see IT.  complete loss of composure.
Felt like my soul exploded from a mix of panic, orgasm, and AOTY points to be had.
The crowd went wild, somebody started a wave, utter pandemonium, but I still somehow got the fish into the boat.
This is my biggest bucketmouth to date. We made 1 attempt to weigh it with a small scale that went to 8 pounds and it bottomed it out immediately. The weight means nothing to me anyway, this is AOTY baby.

Terry, you makin' me nervous.
Where I was at today it felt like CL, and I thought about you prowling around in it.
In the last pic, I can see you straining from smiling too big!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I have started to  post a reply five times now and have erased them all. It's very difficult to add to Terry's description of the day on and off the water.   I know we STARTED with a combined  +60  minnows including Terry's leftovers from the day before and ended recycling quite a few fatally wounded minnows to increase the score.
All and all we ended up landing between 30-40   fat bass and one real beauty.

Congratulations Terry on you MONSTER BASS......We were just as excited as you (well almost) and felt honored to be part of it.    Allen

That's not a smile. He's straining to hold that baby up. Way to go, Terry. Patrick and Allen did well too.

23.5", not too bad. You should be able to get a 200 point fish in the spring.
BTW, that's about 9# depending on the girth.
