Great crew out there today Zilla,Jd,Rory,Lost Coast Joe, Cap Matt and Sigelvictory. We were greeted with nasty conditions but decided to fish anyway I caught nada just a few strikes there were a few fish caught and all I'm gonna say is Somebody's X kayak still has some Dino Mojo. We did beat the mud well almost  :smt005.  I did see some drag marks at Bullhead when I was leaving  :smt009, I'll post a few picts a little later. Brad thanks for the snow my wife was thrilled(WAF) she wants a truck load next time.

Hey Mike and others, I showed up at 10:30 and got the yak to the water's edge, and changed my mind when my hat flew off. I watched you guys bobbin in the stiff breeze and decided against it. How could you ever see a pump? The guys in the Trophy boat were bobbin pretty good too.
I should have known that fresh, clear skies mean windy :smt012.
Maybe when a low starts coming in...
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Hey Mike,

It was nice to meet you and Rory and congrats to Rory for landing his first yak Sturgeon. I believe he said 45 inch on the radio, almost!! Lost Coast and I left you guys and went to the Petaluma River in hopes of finding some sheltered water but it was nastier then the Camp. We high tailed it back and anchored above you guys for nada. Those were our tracks at Bullhead, we waited a little to long to head in and paid the price. Approx. 30+ yards in the mud at times past my knees. Actually had a guy that was driving by stop to see if I needed help. See you guys out there next time.

Matt

changed my mind

And I paddled a for hours looking for you Not :smt004
I don't blame you a bit if I hadn't posted and Brad driving from Tahoe I would have bailed, but I really wanted to try the X-Factor in crappy conditions. You had to hold the rod all day and surprisingly it wasn't that bad the wind was blowing so hard that there was no swing. It definitely felt like a washing machine all day I was waiting for the spin cycle. I could feel the little bullheads pecking at my shrimp, but a lot of waves felt like pumps.

Wow... that sucks that you efforts weren't rewarded... but then again, we're talking sturgeon fishing. Another trip or two like this and you guys are soooooooooooooo due. With those conditions... I'm guessing that those little taps that I love so much were impossible to feel. Next time boys...

Zilla-
That's one hell of a drive. You due brother...

Dang it!...I was wishing at least one of you guys would land a legal today.  At least Rory caught a small dino.  That must have been fun.

It was blowing here at home this morning.  I could only imagine what it was like OTW.

Zilla, I wished I could have hooked up with you and the guys today since you drove all that way.  Next time bro!

Hey Guys and Gals!!! Yes, I did score :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 The only bad thing is that the dino was 45 inches :smt010 No matter what I did I could not get it to stretch. Oh well, had a great time with everybody. As Mickfish has hinting at, I did not make it through the mud. No more than got out of my yak and took a tumble into the mud. :smt003 I thought for sure that I could stand up in it better. just lost my footing. Can't seem to load up the pics I took, but will keep trying. Once again, it was great to finally meet everybody and place some faces with the names. OH, and another thing, "When we going again?"  :smt006

Just wanted to Say way to go to Rory and SV who toughed it out on a very nasty day.
One tip on pulling anchor with that much current when you pull it up and you feel it is stuck in the mud don't try and pull it just hold it tight and the shortness on the line and the up and down movement of the boat will drag it out of the mud and you will feel it release then pull it up quick. SPB is famous for it's Sucky Mud.

Thanks. Forgot to tell everyone that on this trip I had to cut my anchot rope. Could not get it out of the mud. Now I know better. Thanks, Mick :smt003
