In the same issue is Allen (otobepelagic) on the front page. Remember him and his son Patrick (Holy Toledo) both catching sturgeon two days in a row recently? Hey, Allen! You've hit the big time!!!

WON is Western Outdoor News, the state's largest outdoor weekly. 70,000 subscribers between the northern and southern editions. Kayak fishing gets good coverage in these pages, and I'm always pushing for more. Coming soon, look for a feature on Elk in the next issue of Western Outdoors magazine, the companion glossy to the paper.

WON was until recently the only national sporting weekly.  It has a significant political voice for anglers and in my opinion is one of the few "journalistic" sportfishing publications nationwide.  I've learned a lot more with it than without and I feel reading WON is a karmic responsibility.  With editorials, it keeps anglers aware of the issues while delivering great fishing/fishery and hunting info.

Kayak fishing as we know it was born in California...in a big way by Western Outdoor News who was probably the second publisher to cover the sport.  Hawaii Fishing News is a similar mag that covers kayak fishing in a big way these days and is a good read for offshore kayak fishermen anywhere.

Oh yeah, modest PAL is a hatrack.  ...the kayak fishing editor for WON and their glossy monthly, Western Outdoors magazine.  Also the mast of the Kayak Fishing Association of California.  Send him pix of you, kayak and fish.

I forgot to send my congrats to Melissa!   I was up late.
The Nor Cal Coast looks pretty nice this morning (from a distance).  When does the nearshore open?  I've been drooling with the thought of salmon. It may not happen now with the Sacramento River count.  How far north would that closure go?
