Tried to dive for halibut in the incoming tide this am.  Very dark green/brown water maybe 1-2ft. vis.  Gave up on that after one pass and tried jigging them up.  No Go.  Ran down to Hog Island to try and make some live bait for zilch.  I couldn't even catch bait.  That is pretty pathetic.  Jigged for a while with fishtraps for zip.  Ran back up to the bar and met a guy who had just boated his third on live bait  :smt013 .  Cried a little :smt009 , wiped my nose and called it a day.  Jzumi saw one fish while we were diving but had no time to shoot because the vis was so bad and the fish spooked. :smt012 .  Might try salmon somewhere tomorrow depending on the forcast.  Good luck at the tourney you guys.

Brother that is depressing! We had time making bait there until we found it and then it was breezy.  Better luck tomorrow!  I will still be baby sitting  :smt009

Not to rub salt in the wound, but there is a guy who posts on coastside who does pretty well on halibut in Tomales using jigs.  I believe what he uses are plastic B-2 squid bodies on lead heads.  I'm sure he has the right spots and the tides dialed in.

That is exactly what we used.  Glow squid on lead head jigs.  I have some friends who absolutely kill them with those things.  It just wasn't in the cards for us yesterday.  Next time.
