I have a lot of 35mm slides I would like to copy. Anybody try this ? Method? Results?

Before I gave my Coolpix digital camera to a cousin in L.A., I was using a slide copying attachment that fit over the lens. Worked very nicely. I'm going to the Fred Hall fishing show in Long Beach in March. If you still haven't found a more convenient solution by then, I can retrieve the camera and copy the slides for you.

Thanks for the offer Howard. My Mom is bored and needs something to do, so I'm trying to set her up. Were you using a Shotcopy? How were the results compared to a shop? I have an Oly 5050 that I want to use.

For a very simple attachment, it worked great. You just aim the camera at the blue sky and click away. Can dupe as many as 40 slides a minute, or as fast as you can swap out each slide. For even better color fidelity, better than aim the camera at a white light, not incandescant or fluorescent, which will give you a yellowish or greenish cast.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have a Canon scanner that has a feed for both slides and negatives. I bought it just for the purpose of getting old images digitized to maintain the image integrity and to store them on DVDs. One of these days...

About a year ago, I scanned seven family albums (approx 1200 pictures) that survived a house fire and used Photoshop to clean up the pictures as much as possible, and then created a digital photo album much ike the NCKA photo album that you have. I burned at least a dozen copies to ensure that any future disasters won't affect the survival of the images.  If you want any help with scanning or touching up, let me know.

I believe that, if you scan negatives or slides, that you should set your scan resolution high to make sure you capture a the little details in pictures that most people don't miss until they're gone.

Yes, many scanners come with the ability to scan 35mm slides.

We have done quite a bit of that with ours and it works well.  As Howard said, set your resolution high to get the best quality scan.  It can be pretty darn time consuming, but once you get it set up with the resolution you want, etc., she should be able to move through them farily quickly.
