This lake is near Hollister. Part of the Central Valley Water Project, it receives its water from the ducts. Similarly to San Luis res but without stripers. It is run by a private concessionaire. But the fees are very reasonable, like $5 plus 3 for a yak.

Here is an article by Dan Bacher for the fishsniffer pub: http://www.fishsniffer.com/dbacher/061130sanjusto.html

I have fished there many many times from shore, targetting trout and bass. But I plan to take my yak there this year.

Have you ever yakked this lake? Do you have any advice?
Any relevant info is appreciated.

Thanks!
PK

Never yakked it but would be interested in giving it a shot.  Post a hook-up and if the time is right, I'll join ya.  Doesn't sound to be very big.  Read in the article that there is no body contact - hope that doesn't mean no kayaks. :smt011

Yes, they allow kayaks. Just need to wear waders or use scupper plugs, like Loch Lomond. Although, I did think it was funny to see people wading in the pics for this article: http://www.pinnaclenews.com/sports/contentview.asp?c=220291

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Ya, I just heard about the Zebra Mussels tonight! Damn, that sucks!
Please take the time to review the links below and take steps to
clean your gear, boat, trailer, etc., so that these creatures aren't
transported to other waters by anglers. Thanks.

Just heard the San Benito County Public Works closed San Justo Reservoir to all boating activity due to the Zebra Mussels :smt011. I would have to assume this includes yaks  :smt010. Better check before going there unless you plan to fish from shore.
