Got off work at 0900 and headed home for a hot shower and some sleep. Jumped on the NCKA, posted a few absurdities, then read the reports and topics of interest. This site tends to inspire.
Went outside to bring in some gear and got blasted with sunshine. Sleep would have to wait.
Took me awhile to load my gear then go back to the recruitment center for troops, but made it to the water before noon. Stepped into the park for lunch and some NFL network then I went to work.
It was flat with 8+viz and a thin layer of bloom for cover. conditions are perfect.
I focused on swimbaits today and worked a hitch colored 7" mission fish.  Stayed about 75' off the bank on a rocky point and was working 10-18' of water. I had 1 fish on the swimbait and lost a few others, work in progress. I may have been more successful but I was constantly being distracted by bass hammering the super agents. Caught 13 total fish, nothing under 16" and all of them bruisers.
The fish of the day was so big that I had to use my other chin to help lift it up.
I think the young folks would say  BOOYAH!

That was actually my first fish with that flavor of swimbait and lost it shortly after.
Ive only spotted hitch in the spring while sight fishing and I know very little about their habits.
this will change.

Hey Terry,
Those are some nice fish, I hope I have to use my second chin to lift a bass one day.
BTW, why aren't any of those fish listed on the AOTY yet?  Remember you have only two weeks to post them this year...i.e. no sand bagging.

Ok, Im still thinking I can get a much bigger LM this year but I do want to get something on the board.
A scale is not applicable to AOTY so I havnt been carrying one, but it was one of the heaviest bass ive caught, so far.
This fish was thick and VERY difficult to manage on the edge of my kayak where my measuring tape is.
The fish was shy and it wouldnt comply to being measured and photographed. I kept thinking about Adam and the closed mouth fish for measuring thing, but as soon as I loosened up on the jaw pressure the fish would assume that it was time to go back in the water. I did get one shot off but the tail moved past the end of the tape some and I lost some length. I thought the fish may have come to terms with the situation so I let go of its mouth for the second photo/measurment. Of course, it took the opportunity, and lunged for the water making its escape.
Im not sure if I can even get the 22" that is photographed "open mouthed" the bottom lip touches at 22' but im not sure how much length I lost on the other end.
This will be my first AOTY fish and Id rather not post it if there is any questioning, ill just go get another one.

what do you folks think?
