Played hookey today and drifted the Russian River with Mickfish.  We drifted about 4 miles of river north of Healdsburg, ending the drift at his place just above the dam.

Not much to report.  No action (except 1 squawfish) despit our best efforts.  Water color was decent, a bit murky but fishable... probably 20 inches visability.

I fished plugs and and drifted roe under a float.  Mike plugged and drifted a spin-n-glo.  Nada.

It was a beautiful stretch of river and we only saw a few bank fishermen the whole stretch.

This was my first drift with my drift anchor setup on my Marauder and I'm happy to report that it performed flawlessly. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,10397.0.html

It was a good shake out trip... ready to go again after we get some rain.

Glad you got to get out, it is a nice stretch of river.  Definitely need to get some more fish in the river, even the hatchery hasn't gotten many fish.  This next rain should bring a BUNCH of fish into the river, forecast looks like it will be enough rain to blow the river out though.

Interesting about the visibility though as just below Dry Creek it is crystal clear, maybe that flow is mixing with the rest of it.  Near Wholer it is also a little on the too clear side.

Me too Mini-X and anchor set up worked great.
