Well, it actually means "hard headed" compa. And that name is quite appropriate, considering the massive noggins on these fish!
Me and Abking are having our own little contest going to see who can catch the biggest cabezon this year. Also quite appropriate considering we're both pretty stubborn or "hard headed" LOL!

Thanks for that link, Adam.  I admit ignorance of anything about mouth open/closed.  I think people should speak up right when they see something that's out of place rather than acting later like someone did something improper.  I feel bad because I measured my fish with the mouth open.  Please tell me next time I'm not doing it the accepted way.  Thanks.

and if you still can't get it right.......and enter a size that is way off?  the previous years WINNING COMMITEE(top three) will decide/determine the REAL length.
resulting in a service charge.   Like an inch deduction or however many off the measurement was.   
That will keep the measuring honest.....maybe a one-time infraction warning.

  Just took another hit on this measuring thing on another thread,

 1st of all,  If I said a fish was a certain length, it was measured with two hands, as HONESTLY as possible,

 and reported as such. Photo may have not been as great at all times, but this was supposed to be fun,

 and well,  it's not to much fun to be considered Dishonest. 

 Honor and doing the right thing is my Creed, and I really don't appreciate those things being challenged.

 There are plenty of entries on the AOTY that looked a little off, and I mean, just a little, no big deal....

 I could see what would have happened if i placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Should have not even tried anymore after the first hit...

 I want to enter the AOTY, but is it going to be like this again?  Do I need Fish & Game everytime I weigh a fish because

  my word is no Good?

 BTW, Fish & Game did Measure the Halibutt ....

 Sorry to get Bent about this, But How would you feel if your entries were so scrutinized?

 I'm sure it's not meant to be attack, but it hurts to think that you may feel I'm being dishonest

 So, whats the deal.... What is the standard for measuring fish?

 I like the AOTY Gig, But I really don't want to deal with this again...... Danglin


 

Always thought you had to have a measuring device in the picture or someone to vouch for the measurement. After all, one man's hand can be bigger or smaller than the next person's.  No flame intended. Measuring devices are not that difficult to keep on hand.

If there is ever any question the judge and jury (me) comes in and cleans up.

This year we have great measuring devices provided by Sean at GWKC so the questions should be fewer.
