Got to a late start (there was a truck load of puppy dogs that over turned on Hwy 152 and I had to help with the rescue efforts - no worries - no pups were seriously injured.... not during my watch....at least :smt002)

Anyway, got my feet wet by 10AM....the others were already on the water. I was expecting a warm welcome from the crew but instead, I was treated like the village lepper  :smt011 Papa Bill kept reminding me not to dip my gout-infected-toe into the water....so not to infect the Forebay fishery :smt013

Anyway, I only had a couple of hours to fish and I was able to convince one little striper to pounce on my x-rap. (I was trolling it in about 5 to 6 FOW) The wind picked up before noon and I made my way back in time to see that the wind warning light was on. Got my feet dry by 1PM. As I was ready to leave, a brave float tuber (a fly heaver) was making his way out  :smt104 Anyway, I wished him luck.

It was nice to be out on the water again....after being land locked for two weekends in a row.....da horror  :smt118

some pics to follow....

Note: it was nice to see two new-born kayakers out there = Hojoman and Grammar police. Congrats on your new kayaks :party

Got on the water a tad before 6:30 and made my way to the buoy line.  Stuck a schoolie right before the buoys.  Hit 3 more before 8:30 then the bite died.  Too bad no one else except Bill was on the water by that time.  All fish came on the "Forebay Secret Lure" and were CPR'd.  Bill managed a nice LMB too.

Mooch, I would never make light of your agony...no gout about it. And it was good to see your cheery face on the water, as well as PolePole and Pacifico. The only "exciting" incident of the day for me was a monstrous bird's nest less than 1 minute on the water. And the only hook-up was sinking three hooks of my crankbait into my CAMERA STRAP. If I said my primary purpose for being out on a gorgeous monring like today was to paddle my new ride, I'd be lying. I wanted a fish, even if it was a guppy.

Lots of birds on the water, and I did see a couple of boils but no takers. Pacifico hauled in a 10" striper on a shad rap. I wanted to fish a Bandit lure, but it's still buried in the strap; so I used a RR4 Risto Rap to no avail.

The paddling was a blast. I always had the impression I wasn't moving very fast, until reality set in when I dipped the paddle to change direction. The breeze came up around noon, followed quickly by choppy water and cooler temps. Paddling then became more of a chore.

Some pics:

1. Grammar Police enjoying his new fishing option

2. Mooch, Pacifico, Grammar Police, and Bill sharing worms found in the outhouse. I wonder if that's why PolePole is keeping his distance.

3. No fish to show (and I'm not showing the three hooks in the camera strap)...so why not some pretty birds.

4. Pacifico doing what I definitely can't do...Hullavator is next item on my shopping list.

I love the yak, Sean, even if I did bounce it like a basketball at the end of the day while unloading. Gotta get that yoga mat.

Jamie, we thought about it briefly after loading up the cars at 1 pm. But there was no incentive to unload and reload again in the same day.

I hope so. My arms and legs are aching big time. And I need a seat cushion for prolonged rides. Still, it was a hoot being on the water with friends.

I had a great time paddling around and getting the feel for the new P15. Constantly I thought to myself, "man this thing paddles like a dream!" Though I have paddled a P15 before (Moochies yeller one) the only difference I could come up with was his was more loaded and the added weight may have effected glide.

My 165lbs did not sit in water all day, though my feet soaked in it. Side-saddle was cake.

It was good to see everyone out there and meet Pole Pole.

Howard, you looked like an old pro at paddling and seemed comfortable. Not so much like a pro on the fishing front.

I'll be sure to keep my camera away from your lures. Which by the way, I have one of your little rapala’s.

That bass was fun. I think there is a pretty good inderground bass bite going on right now. PolePole and I only fished for them a short time and got a few good pickups and bites. I thought I had a big striper for a bit until it did that telltale LMB tug.
