The quick release anchor system can be as simple as a knot tied close to your sitting area,

If your hooked up, I'm sure someone will throw ya a snare,

lots of tackle shops should have that sturgeon card..

Storing a sturgeon on a SIK :smt017,  might need help with that too

I have seen Tyees caught up in Vancover Island in SIK, but it sure looked dicey @ Times!!!!

I don't think I'm going to make this Sunday,

( might get a last second reprive from the Warden, or maybe the Felllas have a birthday Party )

Good Luck to ya all,  look forward to a report :smt006 ..... Danglin

no snare?  all we need is one and i got it $50
sturg-cards are at most bait/fishin shops (free)
if one of us gets one? the launch is so close you could paddle it back to your car, return and continue for your striper limit!  or throw it in/on one of you *new-brethrens yaks!  to hold for a while.   anchor and a way to release and retrieve it is the biggest prob....next to gettin pulled into the water by one of these beasts.

if your ready.....come on out bro!  check the pic of the launch(thnx Don!) into prime territory right after going under that bridge, to the right.

I've kept them in the fridge overnight before :cold, just in the box the baitshop packed 'em in.  The next morning they were fairly lively still.  Keeping them aerated in a bait bucket :snorkel would work better, I bet.

Good luck on Sunday!  Unfortunately, I think I'm gonna have to stick closer to home.

My experience keeping grass shrimp alive overnight hasn't been good, I put about 3 gallons of water from the martinez marina in a 5 gallon bait bucket with aerator and about 1/2 pound of very healthy shrimp. Kept in a cool garage over night (winter time).  All dead in the morning with aerator still going. Seemed like it should have worked, I probably did something wrong,,

I gotta commit to the Xmas shopping before the fishing for awhile.

My favorite, Ghost Shrimp, all fish love em,

The bait shop people recommend keeping the shrimp cool and moist, not wet. Ice with wet newspaper on top then the shrimp, and more wet paper, usually in a cooler. In the reefer ,same layout in a cardboard box, no ice.
Good luck guys! Wish I could go with you. :smt010

Luis

It's really not complicated, but the main thing is to set up a quick released system and have a system that will

position the yak with the current.

A down and dirty way :

I simply have a rope tied off from the stern to a area by my seat. I slide a metal circle onto this rope, caribeaner whatever will

will also tolerate an anchor line going through. I feed the anchor line through the circle, hit bottom, let out another 15' or so, tie

rope off to metal circle and the circle slides back toward the stern on the rope I have tied from the stern to the seat area.

You will also need a crab trap buoy attached to the end of anchor line as to be able to retrieve post deployment from quick release.

My quick release is just untying the knot.

Here is a Thread by " Mooch " showing a far more efficient way to do this, rollers and bungees to absorb shock from waves are

other things to consider when rigging a quick release system

Luis also check the pics in Totes album. He has pics of his quick release and anchor. Tote used a cam cleat but a jam cleat works good too. It's very important to be able to release your anchor quick in current. ChuckE was almost pulled under by some debris on his anchor line before he cut it loose.http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?action=gallery&g2_itemId=5589&g2_page=7
