It is tradition for me to hit either McSwain or the Merced right below McSwain.  This will be my first time from a yak.

Craigh,  :smt006,   I know you've fished this area, are you game?  Any company is welcome - channel 69.  I'll be there by 600AM

Michael

Whoa there partner, that's my lake!  I don't know if there's room enough for more than one NCKA yaker.   :smt003

My parents live in Merced so I usually stop by the lake to do some yak fishing, and recently some practice diving.  Haven't been there in a few months though.

I used to launch the yak from the boat ramp but now I launch down a bit past the camping area.  It's easier to load/unload and you can park your vehicle right on the shoreline.  There's plenty of shade too.  Sometimes my nephew and his friend will take out the yaks and I'll just cast out the rod, set it down in a rod holder, and chill out in/on the bed of the truck while sipping on a cold one and listening to some tunes.

I launched into the river right below McSwain once but the water was moving really fast and there are a lot of submerged brush.  Too many snags and it didn't make me feel very comfortable being in fast water like that.

I'll probably be out at the lake the day after thanksgiving, but not thanksgiving day.  Maybe we'll meet up some day.

Good luck.

Would love to meet you on McSwain someday.  :smt006   Maybe drag some other NCKAers out there.  :smt001

I grew up fishing it in my pre-kayak days.  I've been fishing it for the last 10-12 years.  Man I love that lake.  Not monster fish but a consistant lake from day to day.

I remember a post you made a year or two ago.  I enjoyed reading it and brought back many good memories.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make Friday as we will be spending with the wife's family.  :smt013 :smt010   Good luck!

Look forward to meeting up with you!!

Michael

There aren't any other Modestans that want to get out Thursday morning before the big feast?  I know that there are several of you out there.  Or maybe I am just a lucky S.O.B. because I don't have turkey responsibilities.  :smt003

I'll be off the water by 1100, 1200 at the latest.
