Launched around 9am; lost 2 on my fly rod with white woolies before noon casting close to shore. Don't know what hit me but it was some pull. Took a short break and enjoyed the view. The wind picked up so I decided to trolled around the lake and finally landed a 23.5inch/5lb.3oz. lunker bow on my broken-back rapala 6lb-test mono around coots landing, ~30yds from shore.The white pelican was a good sign. On my way out, I talked to local old timers hanging around the marina...bows are getting hotter, bass and cats are getting slower.

The weather was great. A bit breezy in the afternoon but manageable. Water temp. 62-64 degF. It was a wonderful Sunday!

Welcome to the boards... That's a great post and a really nice looking fish. I've heard that lake has some really big fish but, I have yet to hook into anything big there. Nice job...

Thanks Freddie. When you're at the marina to get your permit check out the pics right next to the entrance door. There are some monsters in the lake. Water is so clear, lunkers line-shy that light tackle is key to success. I landed quite a few lunker bass on light tackle on a rented boat...nerve wrecking!

Wow... very nice trout.  Congrats Lino!

Lake Chabot is my favorite local trout spot from late fall early spring.  I caught an 8 lb and 11 lb trout there.

Thanks Kiel. I guess you know what it means, huh. :smt120 That's what my wife calls me on weekends.

You betcha, Adam. "Madness" is synonymous to my username. BTW, I would like to try Sherman Lake. Any plans on heading back there soon? Where do you launch? I checked with Google Maps and I saw a huge parking lot at W. Sherman Island Rd.

Thanks Chuck. Let's hookup and hit Lake Chabot soon.

That's the spot!   if you park in the lot it is self-pay. The lake(created from broken levee) has openings the flow from the main river. Sucking bait out on the dropping tide and pushin them in on the the high.  I need to give it another GO, but was waiting for a report of LARGE ONES first.

Ciralulo = Crazy
It literally means "Cira" (broken) "ulo" (head).
If you're totally obsessed about something like kayak fishing, you might be considered "ciraulo" like many of us. :smt003

Ciraulo,

Nice fish!  I might try Chabot next week.  How fast were you trolling the Rapala?  Does the wind usually kick up after noon?  I have heard that you shouldn’t get too close to the shore ‘cause you’ll get hit with a flying weight.  It that true?
