I just got back from Tahoe on Sunday, unfortunately most of my time was spent either drinking/gambling or recovering from drinking/gambling.

I did fish for about 2 hours at fallen leaf lake.  The lake is really nice but you have to drive down a two way (one lane) road for a couple of miles until you finally get to the lake.  The public marina/store was closed (some guy working in the area said it was closed for insurance reasons but I didn't try to figure out exactly what that meant).  There really aren't many places to park...fortunately the guy that said it was closed also told me that while he couldn't let me park in the parking lot it would be ok for me to park outside of the gate (so long as we weren't disturbing traffic) and we could wheel the yaks down to the launch which was about 50yds away.

We trolled rapalas half way down one side of the lake, then cut over to the other side of the lake and back up to the launch without a single bite.  Zilla mentioned that just like mendo, Tahoe is a live bait lake...I don't know if it applies to fallen leaf but it sure felt like it.  We paddled from about 3PM to 5PM, it was a  bit windy and cold but nothing a paddle jacket and pants couldn't overcome (I paddled in shorts and a sweater) and the water was very clear.

I did notice that there is a trail (near the camp ground, before you start to see the lake and the houses around it) that looks like you might be able to cart your yak through. I didn't get off the truck to check it out and I think the sign said it was about a mile to the lake so if you decide to try it out you may want to take a trial walk first.  The only advantage of that trail is that there is plenty of parking space available, unlike when you actually get around the lake which is surrounded by homes.

We drove around the lake Saturday looking for potential launch spots (we didn't launch though) and found that some of the parks around the lake are closed for the season.  There are a couple of launch spots in South Tahoe (Tahoe Keyes?) and there are a few on the west side of the lake (Emerald Bay) but there were also quite a few parks with what appeared to be easy launch spots on the east side of the lake up towards spooner lake...next time I go out that way I want to try to spend less time drinking/gambling and more time fishing that side of the lake.  I don't know how productive it is as far as fishing but it looked like it would be a nice paddle if nothing else.

Hopefully someone with more local fishing experience will give you some better advice.
