I spent the last two days trolling for salmon w/ Moo using my Stealth Fisha 5.0.  I am still trying to get used to the Stealth and get efficient paddler.
I didn't get any salmon, but it was a great learning experience.  I will go again soon...
However, I got blisters on my right hand.
I think it might be from bad paddling form.
Any suggestions?
I might start wearing paddling gloves.

Good stuff Paul!  Are you gripping too tight?  Maybe like learning guitar it's part of the joy?  Maybe chop some wood? :smt006

When I tried an offset paddle I ended up with blisters on my right hand. Going back to a zero degree offset helped. I was used to it. edit: I just noticed the picture. That may be a grip issue. I was getting blisters between my thumb and index finger.

It's easy to unconsciously favor your dominant side when paddling, easing that habit and paddling equally with your left and right takes consciousness and practice to break that habit. I do this, I'm working on breaking the habit.

Otherwise I'd say Eddie is right with the guitar analogy. Perhaps bring some gloves, start barehanded, and put them on once you start feeling irritation. I bet there will be a day in the near future where you get back to shore and realize you went all day without putting the glove on.

I think you are correct that I might be gripping too tightly.  If I have to learn how to play guitar to become an efficient paddler, I will never make it. :smt001

FWIW

Hold your paddle like a raw egg

Example , baseball players and golfers, light grip is more effective than tight , death grips will constrict the ROM and cause inefficient swings , the body focuses on your hands  not your stroke

Just  my .02

Happy paddling

Psychologically we hang on too tight even though it may be leashed. The fear is losing our only motor even though we may have another paddle in the hatch.  On occasion, like The Spiffster mentioned, it's a light grip even to the point where I flat out open my hand fully on the top push opposite the dig blade if that makes sense.  I'm sure you could hum a few Korean bars if you were in the zone.  We all have untapped musical talent. :smt006

You're in good company, as Ringo also got blisters on his fingers...

Plan to head out again for the next two days using my Stealth for some rockfish.  I will be incorporating all your great suggestions.

Thank you.
