Spending a few days with my brother at Lake Almanor.  The wind finally settled down yesterday afternoon and allowed me to take my kayak out.  Caught and released a rainbow and about a 4 pound German brown. The hex hatch is just starting.

Nice fish! Will be up there in early July. Any recommendations on where you fished and what to use? I have a fish finder and a downrigger.
Cheers

I used meal worms and night crawlers in 25-40 feet of water in front of the Rocky Point Campground.  I seem to catch more rainbows in the shallower water.  On our friend’s boat we slow trolled a meal worm or an artificial grub in 30-50 feet of water.  We also fast trolled speedy shiners for mostly rainbows.  I also find reading  Clayman’s past post about Lake Almanor very helpful.
