I'm thinking of hitting Berry on Wednesday but I noticed the deep water temps spiked over the last 24 hours. Not sure how that will affect fishing depths, but 70 degrees at 40' seems crazy right now.

That’s a bizarre jump in temp but it looks like it’s going back down now.
Wish I could join. I’m hoping to have more time for midweek ventures by midsummer.
Good luck!

I'd be willing to bet the big wind event over the weekend caused that temporary spike
Tight lines and falling feathers

It was really slow, but I got one nice 14.5" kokanee to stick.
I lost another bright chrome fish around noon that was much larger - pulling drag. It broke off at the leader about 20' from the boat. It fought like a kokanee but could have been a king. Both were at about 50' near the Big Island. There was a fleet of 12-15 boats tooling around. I met another kayaker who scored one trout at 35'.

Solid koke!
Breaking a leader sounds king-like.
Thanks for the report.
I’m hoping to get a berry trip in June.

Water looks good and nice fish Joe! That place seems like a not much action but big fish kinda place, how heavy was your line and leader?

Tempted to give it another try one of these weekends.

I've had big-action days of multiple species, which keeps bringing me back. But lately I've had a lot of 1-fish days.
I would never go there on a weekend except maybe from October to April. There were enough boats on a Wednesday.

I forgot to add that both hookups were on one of Kevin's chartreuse spinner kokanee lures that he gave me a couple years ago.
That lure has caught multiple trout, salmon and kokanee (and probably bass). Bummed that it broke off. I will try to find something similar for my collection but definitely will have less confidence without it.

Nice Koke.  Thanks for the report and picture Joe.

Solid fish. Berryessa is a love/hate relationship, it looks so fishy, but where are the fish? Gorgeous place though.

Can someone please tell me how to find the legend for this?
I assume the color coordinated header is somehow linked to depth maybe...

You Koke hunters ever jig for them ?

OG Clayman used to slay them with that technique, might be worth a search in archives

Another tool in the box can’t hurt ?

The header is the legend.

Looks like yellow is the temperature at 1', blue is the temperature at 5', green is at 10' and purple is at 40'....took some figuring to figure out.
