KFAST- Kayak Fishing Advanced Safety Training

I recently completed a course called KFAST.

This course is focused on a wide range of kayak fishing safety topics. Daren Wendell of Wendell Fishing and Chad Hoover of Kayak Bass Fishing are the creators of this new program. I had the opportunity to meet both of these guys, and they are extremely passionate about making our sport safer though education, knowledge and increasing community awareness. This was a great course and keeps you engaged thought out the modules. If you are familiar with Chad, you know he'll keep you engaged....

I highly recommend taking this course, especially if you are new to the sport and/or looking to gain more safety awareness. They have only launched the Basic training and the next steps they are taking could be game changers. Basic training covers, well the basics.... Pre-launch checks, PFD selection, weather tips, 1st aid, craft selection and much more.

Unfortunately, basic doesn't cover saltwater kayaking as they consider that an Advanced level and Salt will be covered in the Advanced training which should launch in June/July time frame.

Another good campaign they are running is called NO Wear No Share....

Basically, if you are posting pics of you not wearing a PFD while kayaking, your post will not be shared, engaged with and could be removed from forums. Why promote unsafe practices is the thought process.

We have lost to many, if 1 can be saved from either of these campaigns then it's working!
