If you’re hypothetically fishing in Santa Cruz, does anyone have a tip on a superior sabiki rig? My live bait game wasn’t great last year other than anchovies. Been using cheap ones. Gotta get more mackerel and such this year and am looking to splurge on some sabikis.

I always have way more luck when I tip my sabikis with little squid bits. I like the reflective paper ones on sunny days and the Pink flies on cloudy days.

You can also dunk the little sabiki hooks in Procure if you forget your squid

These are the best I’ve found for catching baitfish in Monterey and being cheap enough where you can change them out every other trip. Size 6 is usually what I go with for smelt sardines and smaller Mack’s. Size 8 for chovies. The variety pack has size 4,6,8 but the 4s are only good for bigger pacific Mack’s really. Plain hage aurora fish skin works the best in my opinion on any brand but these are the cheapest by far.
