I got 3rd place in the FnS AOTY for 2025. There were about 80 participants and it was statewide, with southern California species and certain sharks included. My large Leopard and Thresher sharks put me in the top 5. Then my cab and catfish put me in 3rd. I would have gotten second place if I had properly measured my Thresher. But I didn't want to stress the fish anymore than I already had, and I was solo.
Anyway, not bad for a guy with no motor, no Livescope, and an entitled dog onboard.
I'm starting to figure this sport out. Now if I can just catch a legal ocean salmon and a 40" halibut.

Great job, Joe.
I think it is likely we get a better salmon season than last year.

It’s literally just a FB group. No barrier to join. Similar to NCKA. There are a few of us members in both groups. Not a lot of overlap - there seems to have been some bad blood between the groups but nothing official that I know of. Demographics are a bit different but not by much. FnS skews more blue color and SE Asian but it’s not as if NCKA is just a bunch of old white guys. They do like to party and the food at meetups is usually next level.
